600 Jobs at EY in Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Galway, Limerick & Waterford

Consulting firm EY is to create 600 new jobs across its network of 10 Irish offices over the next year in a move that will bring total headcount locally to nearly 3,700 people.

Some 333 of the new roles will be based across the firm’s two Dublin offices with a further 136 in Belfast. The rest of the jobs are spread across Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.

The positions will be in a variety of different specialties.

The company said 237 of the positions will be for experienced workers, while the remaining 363 will be for graduates.

The expansion will bring to 3,700 the numbers employed by EY on the island of Ireland.

The vacancies will include roles in technology, corporate finance, business advisory, tax and accountancy.

"While there is still huge demand for roles in our traditional service areas of tax, audit, consultancy and corporate finance, we are also now recruiting technology specialists, robotics and AI engineers and data scientists along with other highly-specialised skillsets," said Frank O'Keeffe, Managing Partner with EY Ireland.

"As our clients' needs evolve with an increasing focus on the integration of technology, digital transformation and the effective management of major organisational change, the skills our clients require are different to those needed even five years ago."

More than half of the positions will be at the company's two offices in the capital, with the rest based in its premises in Belfast, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.

Extra staff are required by the firm because over the past six years it has had a period of double-digit growth.

The positions for experienced workers will be filled between now and June, while the remaining graduate roles will be filled by this time next year.

The announcement will be formally made by the Taoiseach at an event in Dublin later this morning.

In a statement in advance of the official announcement, Leo Varadkar welcomed the news, particularly that the position would be spread across regional centres.
