ESB announce over 1,000 new jobs

The ESB is to recruit 1,000 people over the next three years to support the delivery of its Driven to Make a Difference: Net Zero by 2040 strategy.

The energy company is seeking to enhance its existing talent pool through recruitment across a range of technical and specialist skills including finance, IT, HR, engineering, customer service and qualified electricians.

The recruitment drive will help deliver the infrastructure, services and associated customer-focused solutions required to achieve net zero emissions.

More than 300 graduates, apprentices and trainees will be recruited over the next three years, to build a future talent pipeline.

The ESB Group already employs around 8,000 people across its business units, which include ESB Networks, Electric Ireland and ESB International.

"This is a critical time for Ireland's energy landscape, as we work together to achieve the targets set out in the Climate Action Plan," said Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan.

He welcomed ESB’s announcement, setting out a plan to actively recruit people with the range of skills needed to support its ambition to achieve net zero by 2040.

"Together with the 8,000 people already employed at the organisation, these new recruits will play a key role in creating a clean energy future for us all."

ESB will recruit across a range of positions including marine geologists, cyber specialists, project management, network planning, commercial analysts, customer service and qualified electricians with a majority of the jobs located in Ireland.

Paddy Hayes, chief executive of ESB, said today's announcement is another positive step in the delivery of the Net Zero by 2040 strategy.

He said “Today, we are making a call for talented and driven individuals to join us as we work together to make a difference by delivering a net-zero energy future for the customers and communities we serve.”
