Supermac's given go-ahead for Obama-style plaza in Longford

Supermac's chief Pat McDonagh has been given the green light to develop a multi million euro service station on the outskirts of Longford town, the Leader can reveal.

A decision on plans to construct a Barack Obama style plaza, similar to the one in Moneygall, Co Offaly which opened in 2014 at a cost of around €7m, is set to be formally announced later today.

However, the Leader understands letters were dispatched to all relevant parties involved in the project yesterday afternoon concerning the decision.

It is also believed the granting of the ambitious project at Lisnamuck and just off the main N63, which provides for retail, dining and refueling as well as electric car charging capabilities, is subject to a number of conditions.

It follows plans announced by Mr McDonagh last week to create 200 additional jobs at three new Supermac’s outlets in Wexford, Waterford and Kinnegad, Westmeath.

Further details to follow.
