Day Services provide social, rehabilitative and life-skill-building activities for adults with disabilities. Day Services are aimed at adults whose lives would be improved from receiving educational activities that enhance choice, independence, personal and social development and improving client’s wellbeing. Day Services includes: social and recreational activities; rehabilitative training; health monitoring; personal care. All programs are person-centered, meaning activities are tailored to individual goals, interests, and preferences to promote independence and community inclusion. Day Services supports help to promote advocacy, communication skills and provide opportunity for social and community inclusion. It provides opportunities for increased community participation, education development and identifying employment and training needs. A “ Human Rights Based Approach ” is used with regular reporting on rights outcomes. Day Services aims to follow the New Directions policy approach. This outlines that services should be person-centred and set up to suit adults with disabilities needs while supporting community inclusion. ST. MICHAEL’S HOUSE Professionally Qualified Basic Grade Social Worker Kilbarrack Children’s Disability Network Team Part-Time (.5 WTE) This is an exciting opportunity for a basic grade Social Worker to support children and their families in their community, presenting with complex needs arising from a combination of intellectual, physical, and/or sensory disabilities. The Social Worker is a valuable member of the Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT), will work as part of a inter-disciplinary team, in line with family centred practice and Progressing Disability Services (PDS) principles. Services are community based providing interventions and supports to children and families in their home, clinic, school and local community. The structure with in each CDNT comprises of a Social Work Team Leader, Senior Practitioner and Basic Grade posts. There will be opportunities for training, regular clinical supervision and ongoing support is provided. The successful candidate must have the following: Essential criteria: · Degree or Masters in Social Work or equivalent · National Qualification in Social Work (NQSW) · Be fully registered with CORU · One year post qualification experience of working with children and families A panel will be created for future employment opportunities.
