Casual Streetscape Operative

Working Hours: 37 hours per week Salary - Scale 2 SCP 5 which is £13.2603 per hour KEY PURPOSE Undertake Streetscape Services in all weather conditions using a range of equipment in the effective delivery of front line street and other cleansing services within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area. Operatives are required to provide Streetscape Services in all areas within the Council district. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES All Streetscape Operatives will be required to: 1.        Undertake all Streetscape services as directed. This may include working individually or as part of a team using manual and or mechanical equipment. 2.        Undertake Streetscape operations in accordance with allocated work schedules ensuring that all operations are completed in full consideration of local and national quality standards. Dispose of waste materials at designated disposal points. 3.        Ensure that Streetscape operations, including use of equipment, are carried out in full consideration of health and safety obligations, safe systems of work, operating procedures, reporting all incidents and accidents to the Line Manager. 4.        Complete and maintain records with regard to work patterns, customer complaints, service issues, reporting to supervisor / nominated officer as appropriate. Completion and return of accident / incident reports to Line Manager. 5.        Carry out daily equipment checks reporting defects to the supervisor / nominated officer. Undertake daily maintenance and cleansing of equipment. 6.        Undertake either individually or as part of a team, duties concerned with Streetscape & Cemeteries Grounds operations as and when required. 7.        Assist, advise and deal with enquiries/complaints from the public in the delivery of services in a polite, courteous and professional manner. Report all complaints/service enquiries to Supervisor and distribute customer information leaflets etc as and when required by the Supervisor. 8.        Act with due care and attention for the health and safety in respect of self, other employees and the general public in compliance with safe systems of work and toolbox talks to comply with guidelines set down by the Council, legislation etc. 9.        Participate in and ensure compliance with all Council policies and procedures and operate within the highest standards of personal behaviour which reflect the core values of the organisation. 10.    Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with Council’s Policies and Procedures. 11.    Undertake any other duties appropriate to scale, which may be required from time to time. 12.    Comply with and actively promote the Council’s policies and procedures on all aspects of equality. The postholder should be aware that the responsibilities of the post may be subject to change as a result of organisational change. The Council therefore reserves the right to change the duties of the post by adding to or amending the range of responsibilities. The postholder will be required to be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and requirements of the organisation.
