The Coombe Hospital Research and audit · Performance of appropriate research in Anaesthesiology and sub-specialities , and in collaboration with other researchers within the hospital · Participation and promotion of clinical audit within the department, the wider hospital and on a national and international level On-Call commitments · There is no on-call commitment to St. James’s Hospital with this post Background to the Post The Coombe Hospital The Peri-operative &Anaesthesia department at The Coombe Hospital has 6.2. permanent WTE consultant anaesthesiologists providing cover for 4 elective operating theatres plus an emergency theatre, labour ward sessions, pre-operative assessment and postoperative and postnatal follow-up clinics, women’s pain service, and critical care. Based on the National Clinical Programme for Anaesthesia (NCPA) model of care for Anaesthesiology (2019), our current level of permanent post staffing does not meet the recommendations for the delivery of safe anaesthesia and critical care. In addition, this post will also facilitate the provision of level 2 critical care in the obstetric High Dependency Unit (HDU). The HDU in the Coombe provides care to pregnant women with high acuity of illness, necessitating a level of monitoring that exceeds “normal” practice in delivery units. Such clinical needs are associated with a range of diagnoses from post-partum haemorrhages, to pre-eclampsia, uterine rupture, HELLP syndrome, sepsis, and pregnant with medical co-morbidities (Guidelines for the Critically Ill Woman in Obstetrics, HSE 2014). The HDU is staffed by a multidisciplinary on-call team consisting of obstetricians, anaesthesiologists, and midwives on an on-call basis. The appointee will serve as an Anaesthesiology Consultant and on-site HDU lead, overseeing key aspects of Level 2 critical care at The Coombe Hospital. They will be expected to recognise, manage and review, in consultation with colleagues, critically ill patients as a member of the HDU care team and will actively participate in all aspects of level 2 critical care treatments and supports. They will provide essential clinical governance in relation to early recognition and timely management of deteriorating patients, HDU admission, management and discharge pathways. They will be responsible for the development of transfer and communication protocols for critically ill patients to and from The Coombe Hospital. Furthermore, they will mentor and supervise Non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs), lead innovative initiatives, and integrate new technologies within the field of critical care. Their role will also encompass the education and mentorship of both undergraduate and postgraduate medical, midwifery and nursing staff, representation of the department in hospital committees and meetings, and active participation in clinical audits and research. This new post will have a split commitment to St James's Hospital (SJH) (model 4 hospital) to enhance the professional links and referral pathways in either direction between the 2 hospitals. The clinical sessions at SJH will allow the post holder to maintain professional competence in a broad range of clinical skills that is essential to providing safe and competent care to critically ill pregnant women. Accuracy of work is a priority in all responsibilities. Additional specific activities may be required and, where so, these will be identified separately. Carrying Out Repairs and Service Ensure that all work specified on the job card is carried out. Where work over and above that specified is identified, report the need to the Service Advisor. Where necessary, seek advice from colleagues and supervisors in diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs. Where necessary, use workshop manuals and technical service handbooks to locate faults. Carry out servicing to the highest possible standard, ensuring that vehicles are protected from soiling. Where applicable, road test vehicles after servicing to ensure satisfactory running order. Carry out all work observing safe working systems and having proper regard to personal safety and that of others. Pre Delivery Inspection and Internal Work Prepare new cars and fit accessories according to the Pre Delivery Inspection schedule. Road test each car. Prepare cars for sale using the multi point check. Diagnosis and Problem Solving Where instructions are unclear, communicate with the Workshop Controller and Service Advisor, or directly by telephone with the customer, to ensure clarity. Where required, meet personally with the customer to help identify problems such as intermittent faults. Where necessary, test drive vehicles with customers. Post Repair Service Administration Write up job cards clearly detailing the fault, the diagnosis and the repair carried out on each vehicle. Where necessary, discuss work completed with the Service Advisor or directly with the customer, as appropriate. Where necessary, road test the vehicle again with the customer. For all services, complete a Service Report. Where requested, complete Road Test Reports and Tyre Reports. Where additional work has been identified and carried out, complete a Defects Report. Highlight on the job sheet any problems with Pre Delivery Inspections and refer these to the Service Manager. Other Duties With colleagues, ensure that workshop housekeeping standards are maintained. Uphold and promote company procedures and guidelines. Report to the Service Manager or Workshop Controller any additional tools or equipment required to carry out work effectively. Communicate best practice solutions to colleagues in the workshop. Maintain special tools and personal hand tools to ensure safe working practice is achieved at all times. Any defects should be reported immediately to the Service Manager. Monitor the technical information library card and report any shortfalls to the Workshop Controller. Aim to increase first time fix rates to minimise repeat visits to the dealership by customers. Where repairs or remedial work are required, report this to the Service Advisor or Workshop Controller, or discuss it directly with the customer as appropriate. Be available to work a reasonable amount of overtime as and when requested. Take an active part in upholding the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.

Reporting to the Secretary & General Manager, this key senior role holder will be the primary point of contact for all data privacy matters within the Hospital. They will be responsible for advising the hospital on all its obligations relating to data governance as it relates to national and European legislation. This postholder is pivotal to safeguarding the organisation’s information assets.
