Qualified Pharmacy Technician
We are hiring for a Pharmacy Technician for our Douglas Store next to Centra South Douglas Rd, Cork, for Maternity Leave Cover for 4 months. This position is open to a Fully Qualified Technician. The position is full-time, 5 days a week including every second Saturday. No Sundays, Bank Holidays or Late Nights. The positions are in a busy dispensary and would suit a candidate who has experience in working in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities · Receive written prescriptions and verify that information is complete and accurate. · Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs. Ensure all drugs are fit for supply and in date. Stock must be regularly checked to identify expired or short-dated stock and dealt with according to company procedures. · Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests. · To accurately and efficiently dispense medication per the prescriber's and pharmacists' wishes. · File prescriptions that have been filled. · Clean, and help maintain equipment and work areas. · To accept and dispose of returned medicines in a safe and environmentally responsible way. · Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients. · Be fully conversant with ordering procedures related to the dispensary and maintain adequate stock levels through accurate stock figures and order placement with suppliers. · Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and inform supplier of shortages · Mix extemporaneous preparations according to prescribers and pharmacists instructions. · To be fully conversant with any necessary paperwork and procedures required to process the HSE end of month claim. · To fully comply with all company policies and procedures. · To strive to exceed customers expectations and always place the customers needs before their own. This means that while rotas will be provided in advance, scheduled shifts may be across different clinic locations within the relevant cluster area, depending on customer demand and operational requirements. Contract Offered : Full-time, permanent Working Hours / Shifts : 40 hours per week, across 5 days. Start and finish times are 6.40am to 3.20pm Tuesday to Friday, 7.40am to 4.20pm on a Saturday and 9.40am to 5.20pm on a Sunday. Rotas are provided in advance on a rolling basis, giving you visibility of your working pattern ahead of time, although rotas are subject to change depending on support needed for cover. For this position, as you may be in contact with live blood samples, you must be vaccinated against Hepatitis B or be able to get it following a successful interview stage. In line with Care Quality Commission guidelines, the successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. What does the Phlebotomist role involve? This role is responsible for ensuring customers have an excellent experience from the moment they enter our clinic, taking blood samples from both private and corporate clients. This is a varied role that may also include the following responsibilities: • Conduct comprehensive client appointments, including blood and urine sample collection, personal health measurements, and data entry into our Patient Information Systems (PIS). • Demonstrate sensitive communication to ensure client understanding and consent. • Maintain accurate records in PIS, uploading all relevant documentation. • Represent the company professionally at offsite events and appointments. • Engage in upselling and cross-selling at our private health clinic. • Proactively drive sales and exceed targets. • Complete company forms, specimen labelling, and laboratory test order forms accurately. • Demonstrate high IT literacy in order to manager various software systems and daily tasks. Essential criteria: • Previous Phlebotomy experience and certificate or equivalent training. • Confident using IT programmes. • Flexibility with working hours, as required by the business inclusive of evenings and weekends. • Flexibility to work from offsite locations at least once per month. • Strong communication skills. • Currently have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
