As an employee of Mayo County Council, you will be assessed in terms of which Pension Scheme is applicable to you. Persons who become pensionable employees of a local authority under the Local Government (superannuation) (consolidation) scheme, 1998 may be required to contribute to the Dependants Pension Scheme. In order, to qualify for a pension, they must have served a minimum of two years (24 months) employment in an approved public body. 12. CLASS A PRSI Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012: The compulsory retirement age for new entrants as defined by the Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 is 70 years. Minimum pension age of 66 years, rising to 67 years and 68 years in line with State Pension age changes, is applicable. Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004: There is no mandatory retirement age for ‘New Entrants’ (from 1st April 2004 and before January 2013) to the Public service as defined in the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004. The minimum age at which a person may retire is 65. As a ‘New Entrant’ to the public service, under the terms of this legislation, new entrants will not be required to retire on grounds of age. Anyone who is not a New Entrant to the public service, as defined in the Public Service Superannuation (miscellaneous provisions) Act 2004, who has joined before 1st April 2004, is subject to a compulsory retirement age of 70 as per CLS2/2019 but can retire from 60 years of age. CLASS D PRSI Minimum retirement age will be 60 years with compulsory retirement age of 70 years. 13. BASE: Assignment of base shall be at the absolute discretion of Mayo County Council. 14. PROBATION : Where a person who is not already a permanent employee of a Local Authority is employed, the following provisions shall apply: (a)              there shall be a period after such employment takes effect during which such person shall hold such position on probation; (b)             such period shall be six months but the Chief Executive may at his or her discretion extend such period; (c)              such person will cease to hold such position at the end of the period of probation unless during such period the Chief Executive has certified that the service of such person is satisfactory. (d)             the period at (a) above may be terminated on giving one weeks’ notice as per the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts; (e)              there may be assessment(s) during the probationary period. 15. MEDICALS: For the purpose of satisfying the requirements as to health it will be necessary for successful candidates, before they are appointed, to undergo at their expense a medical examination by a qualified medical practitioner to be nominated by the Local Authority. On taking up appointment the expense of the medical examination will be refunded to candidates. 16. GARDA VETTING: Offer of employment may be subject to a Garda vetting process. Failure to pass Garda vetting will result in employment being terminated with immediate effect. 17. CANVASSING WILL DISQUALIFY: Any attempt by a candidate (or by any persons acting on their behalf) to canvass or other otherwise influence any officer of the Council (or persons nominated by it to interview or examine applicants) in the candidates’ favour either directly or indirectly, by means of written communication or otherwise, will automatically disqualify the applicant for consideration for the position. 18. Superannuation Contribution Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class A rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration plus 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependent or qualified children). Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority who are liable to pay the Class D rate of PRSI contribution will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 5% of their pensionable remuneration. All persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority will be required in respect of the Local Government (Spouses and Children's Contributory Pension) Scheme to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of their pensionable remuneration in accordance with the terms of the Scheme. Persons who become pensionable officers of a local authority for the first time on or after 1st January 2013 will be liable to pay Class A PRSI Contribution and will be required in respect of their superannuation to contribute at the rate of 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration plus 3% of pensionable remuneration. Hours of Duty The standard working week will be 35 Hours. As opening hours of libraries are tailored to the public’s needs, the Senior Library Assistant will in general be expected to work hours in keeping with the staff rota at the relevant service point. The working hours at present provide for a 35-hour working week, which may be a 6/4 day fortnight and will include Saturdays and late evening working hours as part of a normal roster. The post may require flexibility in working outside of normal hours. A premium is payable to all staff who work on Saturdays. The Council reserves the right to alter your hours of work from time to time. All hours worked will be subject to the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 and the Organisation of Working Time Act (Regulations) 2001. The post is pensionable. A panel may be formed to fill this position and vacancies for Assistant Fire Officer which may arise during the lifetime of the panel. SECTION 6: SALARY The Salary scale for the post is: €44,853 - €69,782 per annum €44,853 – €47,469 – €49,390 – €51,336 – €53,325 – €55,349– €57,390 – €59,433 – €61,474 - €63,519 - €65,576 (Maximum); €67,677 (1st LSI) (after 3 years satisfactory service on the Maximum). €69,782 (2nd LSI) (after 3 years satisfactory service on the 1 st LSI). Entry point to this scale will be determined in accordance with Circulars issued by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government. SECTION 7: LOCATION OF POST The base for working purposes shall be the location as determined by Cork County Council. Holders of the office shall reside in the district in which their duties are to be performed or within a reasonable distance thereof. SECTION 8: WORKING HOURS The working hours at present provide for a five day, 35 hour working week. A flexible working hours’ system is in operation and may be availed of subject to the terms and conditions of the Flexitime Policy. The post requires flexibility in working outside of normal hours. Duties will require the successful candidate to work outside of normal hours i.e. attendance at evening/weekend training, duties etc. as part of normal working hours without additional remuneration. All hours worked will be subject to the provision of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 as amended. SECTION 9: ANNUAL LEAVE The current annual leave entitlement is 30 days per annum or on a pro-rata basis for period worked. Notice of intention to take leave shall be given to the council at least two weeks before proposed leave commences. Cork County Council’s leave year runs from 1st January to 31st December. The Role This role involves working with all areas of the University community to coordinate and monitor the Universities sustainability activities and engagement with the United National Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The TUS strategic plan commits the University to being a leader on sustainability and working with stakeholders to deliver on the sustainable development agenda at a regional, national and international level. The role will involve developing systems to facilitate data gathering from across the TUS academic, research, engagement and operational activities which can support the University to map its sustainability activities and its contribution towards the SDGs. The Sustainability Coordinator, working with relevant experts, will support development of a central repository of sustainability resources and data for staff, students and external stakeholders. The coordinator will support the collation of data, resources, documents and evidence which will enable TUS to benchmark its progress using relevant tools and evaluation/rating systems. Duties and Responsibilities The individual will bring to the role experience and expertise in the areas of teaching, quality assurance, curriculum design, assessment and accreditation. The duties and responsibilities of the post are ever evolving as the exigencies of the post require. The below outlines some of the more immediate duties and responsibilities but is not an exhaustive list.
