Craftworker - Carpenter
The Role Mayo County Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Craftworker Carpenter. The Carpenter will be primarily responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Housing Stock owned by Mayo County Council. He / she will be responsible for carrying out tasks assigned appropriate to his / her trade, and other types of minor repairs and inspections, to a high standard and on time. Each Candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms: a) Have a good standard of general education. b) Hold a National Craft Certificate in carpentry or equivalent and have extensive experience in carpentry. c) Possess good organisational skills. d) A minimum of 1 year experience in carpentry and joinery works following successful completion of apprenticeship. e) Hold a current unendorsed Class B Driving Licence It is desirable that the successful candidate demonstrates the following through the completion of their application form and at interview, a) have had a public facing role in the past b) Have a good working knowledge of the relevant parts of the Building Regulations. Candidates must, by the date of any job offer, be: a) A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway; or A panel will be formed from qualified candidates from which permanent and temporary appointments may be made. This is a pensionable whole-time position on the basis of a 39-hour 5-day week. The role may include occasional evening and weekend work. 2. The salary shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. The holder of the position shall pay to the Local Authority any fees or other monies (other than inclusive salary) payable to or received by such holder by virtue of the position or in respect of services, which are required by or under any enactment to perform. SALARY SCALE: €796.52 - €819.00 - €873.02 - €878.62 - €884.11 - €889.68 - €895.22 - €900.77 - €906.31- €911.87 - €917.38. The starting pay for new entrants will be at the minimum of the scale and the rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. 3. The duties of the post are to give to the local authority, and a) such other local authorities or bodies for which the Chief Executive, for the purposes of the Local Government Acts 2001 and 2014, is Chief Executive, and b) to any other local authority or body with which an agreement has been made by the local authority, or by any of the authorities or bodies mentioned in subparagraph (a) of this paragraph under the general direction and supervision of the Chief Executive or such other employee as the Chief Executive may from time to time determine, such appropriate services of an executive, administrative or management nature as may be required by any local authority or body hereinbefore mentioned in the exercise and performance of any of its powers, functions and duties to exercise such powers, functions and duties as may be delegated to him / her by the Chief Executive from time to time, including the duty of servicing all committees that may be established by any such local authority or body. The post holder will, if required, act for an employee of a higher level if qualified to do so. The following are among the principal duties envisaged: a) The successful candidate will be required to carry out all the duties assigned to him/her by the Council through its management and supervisory staff, relative to the repair and maintenance of the Council’s dwellings and buildings, and related services and any other such duties that may be assigned to him/her from time to time b) The successful candidate will play an important role the housing maintenance function of Mayo County Council. c) Flexibility to adapt and work between multiple work locations associated with preventative and reactive emergency repair requests. d) Work with minimal supervision as part of a larger team throughout County Mayo. e) Be flexible in terms of location, nature of role and working within the County as required by line management. f) Partake in ongoing training and development which will form a core part of the post. g) The successful candidate will be required to drive such council transport as required h) Perform such duties and carry out such instructions as may be given from time to time by the Senior Engineer or other nominated persons. Catchment Conservation Officer
Salary: Scale PO1 SCP 28–31 £39,152 – £41,771 Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. A flexible working hours scheme in operation. The postholder may be required to work additional hours and outside normal working hours to meet the needs of the post. JOB PURPOSE: The postholder will oversee delivery of the CALM PEACE+ programme, including development, management and delivery of riparian river restoration projects. Contribute to the achievement of biodiversity and water quality improvement objectives. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Undertake scoping, preliminary ecological surveys, ecological surveys, mapping, monitoring of sites. Assess and scope sites which may be suitable for restoration. Manage, record, collate and analyse the data for sites during and after the completion of restorative works. Undertake water sampling, testing and analysis. Develop effective working relationships with farmers, landowners, schools, community groups and angling clubs along the selected river tributaries, provide advice and information to help them improve and maintain their water quality. Develop a water quality improvement plan for the sites with involvement and support of all stakeholders for implementation of works. Secure access agreements from all landowners for contract works. Undertake stream improvement works involving volunteers where possible. Manage the project volunteers for which they are responsible, including the planning and preparation of team and individual tasks. Assist with procurement exercises associated with the CALM project. Prepare tender specifications for contract works required as part of the approved water quality improvement plan. Undertake procurement for contract works for drain blocking, fencing, scrub removal and necessary restoration works. Manage contractors engaged to deliver the project and review works to ensure all works are carried out to the required standard for the areas they are responsible for. Deliver events and programmes to inform, advise and educate local communities and engage community and stakeholders to maximise the long-term benefits of water quality measures. Prepare reports and presentations for management and other groups. Manage the allocated CALM project budget. Prepare risk assessments, SSOW and accident investigation and review as required. Prepare and provide reports for management, funders and any other corporate requests as and when required. Deputise for the Programme Manager as and when required. Undertake any other relevant duties that may be required and are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. Qualifications and training • 3rd level qualification (i.e. HNC/HND, Level 4, Degree) in line with the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) in a relevant discipline/subject such as Biology, Ecology or Environmental Health (please note relevancy should be clearly demonstrated). Experience • 2 years’ experience of ecological surveying, monitoring or assessment. Applicants who do not possess a relevant third level qualification must demonstrate 5 years relevant experience as above. • 1 years’ experience of all of the following: – Project management. – Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders. – Managing budgets. – Data collection and analysis. The Service Manager is supported by the Directors of Nursing who have overall clinical responsibility. Each Community Hospital / Nursing Unit has a designated Person in Charge/ Assistant Director of Nursing who has responsibility for ensuring the HIQA Regulations are implemented. The Practice Development Coordinator will support the Service Manager and the Persons in Charge in ensuring staff employed in the centres have the education and training to support them in meeting the HIQA Requirements. Home Care Services comes under the Governance of the Service Manager for Older Persons and 225 Home Helps are employed to provide this service Reporting Relationship The post holder will report to the Service Manager for Older Persons Services while working closely with the Person in Charge within reach of Sligo / Leitrim / West Cavan Residential Services for Older Persons. Purpose of the Post The role / function of the Nursing Practice Development Co-ordinator is to facilitate a continuous process of improvement in the delivery of health care services that are designed to promote increased effectiveness in person-centred care. This post offers a unique challenge for an enthusiastic Nurse within a Philosophy of Person Centeredness. The emphasis will be on a Nursing process within a Social Model of Care. By learning from practice, emphasis is placed on transforming the culture and context of care through systematic approaches, continuous evaluation, development, implementation and monitoring of nursing practice is promoted in all areas of life within Residential Units for Older People, enabling an awareness of quality agendas and promoting the delivery of the highest standard of person centred care. Sharing of information enables facilitation of change, moving towards evidence based practice and improved standards of nursing care. Nursing policies and guidelines are developed in collaboration with clinical staff and circulated to each clinical area. Support will be provided to nurses in Sligo / Leitrim / West Cavan Residential Services for Older People on practice issues enhancing their personal and professional development. By consulting with the relevant stakeholders practice development needs are identified on a continuous basis. Specific project work and practice initiatives will be implemented. These will specifically target at implementing the HIQA standards and ensuring compliance with the current regulations. The post holder will link with academic partners as well as the CNME and NMPDU in order to progress and develop practice. This is a senior position and the post holder will be empowered along with each Person in Charge to lead on, maintain change and sustain nursing practices within an interdisciplinary framework.
