GALWAY JOB REF: 97464 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Nurse Educator appointments within the Children’s Services may be made over the next 6 months. The Role: The Nurse Educator will be responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating individualised developmental and educational programmes to support children’s learning needs. The successful candidate will work as part of the Rosedale team and in collaboration with members of the Children’s Disability Network Teams ensuring the maximum benefit of the programme for the children. The Nurse Educator will be responsible for ensuring that the medical health needs of the children are met within the school. Location: Rosedale School Woodlands Centre, Renmore, Galway. Rosedale School (which includes 2 Early Intervention Classes currently located at Fairlands Preschool) is managed in partnership by Corlann and the Department of Education and Skills. The children attending are aged between 3 and 18yrs of age. Staff work collaboratively to support children who present with a range of complex support needs including ASD and children with significant medical support needs. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Children’s Services Coordinator. Works With: Children and families; Educators, Teachers, Special Needs Assistants and Support Workers; Domestic staff; Children’s Disability Network Teams; Family Support Team. Qualifications/Experience: The successful candidate must hold the following: • A recognised nursing qualification (preferably RNID) and a current live register with the NMBI (An Bord Altranais). • A minimum of 1 year’s appropriate experience of working with children with an Intellectual • Disability in an educational setting. • A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is an essential requirement of this post. Fluency in verbal and written English and IT skills is an essential requirement of this post. Working Hours: 75 hours a fortnight. This post is based on a 5 day duty roster. The Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 24 days pro rata per annum. Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively. Annual leave is taken at set school closure times. Remuneration: Department of Health salary scales as at 01/02/2026 apply: Staff Nurse - € 37,788 x 11 increments - € 54,412 pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment € 56,032 pro rata per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *Enhanced Nurse – € 44,811 x 7 increments - € 56,200 pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment € 57,846 pro rata per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *As per HSE HR Circular 022/2019 – Nursing and Midwifery - the Enhanced Nurse / Midwife Practice Contract https://www.hse.ie/eng/staff/resources/hr-circulars/hr-circular-022-2019-re-enhanced-nurse-midwife-contract.pdf; once a staff nurse reaches point 4 on the Staff Nurse salary scale, they become eligible to apply for the role of Enhanced Nurse. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous relevant nursing service. Tenure: This post is permanent, full -time and pensionable. Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment.
