Job Description Main Purpose of Role The Electrical & Instrumentation Apprentice will support the growth and operational delivery of instrumentation services, calibration activities, and on‑site testing within SGS GAS (Gas Analysis Services). This role combines hands‑on technical training with structured apprenticeship phases, enabling the apprentice to develop the skills and knowledge required to qualify as a Level 6 Electrical Instrumentation craftsperson. The role involves carrying out gas analysis and analyser calibrations for a wide customer base, ensuring compliance with regulatory and user‑specific standards. The apprentice will assist with the installation, commissioning, calibration, and maintenance of measurement and control systems across industrial environments, while gaining experience in gas testing, sample retrieval, reporting, and customer support. Apprenticeship Manager
The post-holder will be required to identify, plan, organise, direct and control a diverse range of programmes to meet contractual requirements and apprenticeship opportunities for faculties as required. This will include managing the administration of the Department for the Economy (DfE) Operational Requirements (ORs) and associated administrative activities through the Training and Management System (TAMS). The post-holder will be responsible for processes across the College to ensure the effective delivery of a range of apprenticeship opportunities for students and employers. The post-holder will be required to represent the College in working groups with other relevant organisations as necessary. This will involve management of staff and all administrative processes associated with the following areas: L2/L3 Apprenticeship Contracts Higher Level Apprenticeships Training contracts with external organisations This is a full time permanent position within the College. We are looking for a motivated, hard-working Apprentices to join our busy workshop and learn the craft from experienced professionals. Successful apprentice applicants will be registered with Solas and begin a 7 phase apprenticeship where they will work alongside highly experienced qualified carpenters during their on-the-job phases. On completion of a four year apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:30am -5:30pm and Friday 7am - 1.30pm.
