Horizons is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist (Care of Dementia ID). The post holder will be enabled to deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008. The role will focus initially on the following service user groups: - Service Users with Dementia (ID). The role is based on the core concepts and associated competencies for the CNS. · Clinical Focus (Direct and Indirect Care) · Service user/Service User Advocacy · Education and Training · Audit and Research · Consultancy (including leadership in clinical practice) 1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc (a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: (i) Be a registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or be eligible to be so registered. AND (ii) Be registered in the division(s) of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Register for which the application is being made or be entitled to be so registered. OR In exceptional circumstances, which will be assessed on a case by case basis be registered in another Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives. Alternatively provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 or higher standard, relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008). Dementia Care prior to application (See **Note below). OR If the applicant does not possess the relevant QQI NFQ Level 9 Qualification the applicant will be supported to undertake the required postgraduate education at QQI NFQ Level 9 qualification (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above) relevant to Dementia (ID) AND (vi) Be required to demonstrate that they have continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to Dementia (ID) or will be supported to obtain the required CPD. AND (vii) Have the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice **Note: For Nurses/Midwives who express an interest in CNS role and who currently hold a level 8 educational qualification in the specialist area (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), this qualification will be recognised up to September 2026. The Clinical experience requirements for this cohort of nurses/midwives remain consistent with the DoH (2019) policy ie a minimum of 1 years’ experience in practice and a minimum a minimum of 1 years’ experience in the specialist area and they could be supported to progress on a candidate CNS/CMD pathway. All of the above must be achieved for this pathway failure to successfully achieve essential requirements within 2 year timeframe will result in termination of the cCNS role and the candidate will return to a previously held post or will be re-deployed within the organisation And (b) Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative capacity for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. 2. Consultant Paediatrician Special Interested Peri-operative Care

Purpose of role: The 2 Consultant Paediatrician roles at NOHC is to provide acute care for children with general and complex presentations needing surgical intervention. They will also assist in the development of a peri-operative service in NOHC. In the interim they will partake on the general paediatric on call rota in NOHC. They will also partake in acute and out-patient General Paediatrics work in CHI. The post holder(s) will liaise between NOHC and CHI to ensure appropriate governance, patient selection, staff training, review and development of protocols, quality assurance and an on-call commitment to paediatric inpatients. The post holders would be expected to do 1 to 2 ward rounds per week. The on-call commitment will cover a ward of 10 inpatient beds at present. These patients are preselected, low medical complexity orthopaedic cases who have been pre-assessed. Most are single overnight stays for analgesia with 4-5 days at the upper range for limb deformity cases and scoliosis. The ward is staffed by experienced, fully trained paediatric nurses and NCHD cover is currently provided by an in-house orthopaedic registrar from CHI. Eligibility Criteria Mandatory Professional Qualifications and Experience: a) Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of General Paediatrics And b) Two years certified postgraduate training in paediatric medicine “The successful interviewee must be registered as a specialist in the relevant specialty on the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland, within 180 days of the day of interview and before taking up appointment. In exceptional circumstances proleptic appointments may be considered for candidates engaged in relevant training programmes. The Consultant must, at all times while continuing to hold office, continue to be registered with the Medical Council of Ireland.
