Facilities Supervisor
The National Gallery of Ireland (‘the Gallery’) is Ireland’s major national cultural institution devoted to the collection and care of fine art. Comprising more than 18,000 paintings, drawings, watercolours, miniatures, prints, sculpture and decorative arts, the institution's extensive holdings include masterpieces by many of the most celebrated figures in the history of western European art. In addition, the Gallery houses the most representative collection of historic Irish art. Funded mainly by the State, the Gallery employs more than 180 staff and provides free access to the public 361 days a year. In 2024, the Gallery received numerous awards and accreditations. These included the Triple Lock Standard, which recognises Irish charities that have achieved excellence in governance, financial reporting, transparency and ethical fundraising, and the RIAI’s Silver Medal for Conservation and Restoration. The Gallery wishes to recruit a Facilities Supervisor to coordinate the frontline facilities team and to ensure operational requirements are delivered to a high standard. Reporting to the Assistant Facilities Manager (or nominated deputy), the Facilities Supervisor will: • Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day maintenance and support of buildings and facilities systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems. • Strong analytical skills for evaluating maintenance processes and suggesting improvements. • Schedule and supervise preventative maintenance programmes. • Project management of repairs, small renovations, and ensure compliance with established service and quality standards. • Respond to facility-related emergencies and vital building maintenance issues. • Liaise between management, staff, contractors, and suppliers through effective communications. • Liaise between management, helpdesk services, staff, contractors, and suppliers through effective communications. • Ensure that all facilities activities comply with health and safety regulations. • Collaborate with Front of House, Health & Safety, Events IT and Security Teams, Helpdesk, Suppliers and Contractors. • Supervise maintenance team and conduct performance evaluations, draft of systems procedures and provide training. • Proficiency in Software Applications usage. The successful candidate will have: Essential Requirements • Proven experience as a Facilities Supervisor or similar role, with a strong understanding of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems. • Strong project management with maintenance analytical organisational and problem-solving skills. • Experience in managing software application for planned preventative maintenance processes and schedules. • Proven record of managing repairs, small renovations, and ensure compliance with regulations. • Management of a facility-related emergency or vital building maintenance issue. • Proven record of strong relationship-building skills with Front of House Staff, Events and IT Teams, Helpdesk, Service Providers and Contractors. • Demonstrate health and safety knowledge for facilities related activities. • Proven record of strong relationship-building skills with multi-discipline teams. • Supervise maintenance team and conduct performance evaluations, draft of systems procedures and provide training. • Ability to draft and update maintenance systems procedures and implement staff training. • Knowledge and experience with Software Applications.
