QUALIFICATIONS 1. Character Candidates shall be of good character. 2. Health Candidates shall be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 3. Education, Training, Experience, etc. Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms: i. Have satisfactory experience in a Technician Grade II post, or higher level, or in an analogous post under a Local Authority. ii. Have at least five years satisfactory relevant experience in a Technician Grade II post, or higher level, or an analogous post. iii. Have a wide knowledge of all the technical aspects of local authority work and a deeper knowledge of at least one relevant section of the work. iv. Hold a current full clean Category B driving licence, details of which must be entered on the application form, and have access to their own car. v. Possess adequate training or experience in dealings with other departments within their own organisation and with other bodies. vi. Have adequate experience in the supervision and control of staff. vii. Have the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. In addition, each candidate must, by the date of any job offer: i. Hold a valid Safe Pass card. Details must be provided to Wexford County Council before any job offer is made. 4. Citizenship Candidates must, by the date of any job offer, be: (a) A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA). PERSON PROFILEDuties The duties of the post are to provide the local authority and: (a) Such other local authorities or bodies for which the Chief Executive, for the purposes of the City and County Management Acts, is Chief Executive; and (b) Any other local authority or body with which an agreement has been made by the local authority or by any of the authorities or bodies mentioned in sub-paragraph (a), under the general direction and control of the Chief Executive, or such other employee as the Chief Executive may determine from time to time, with technical or ancillary services of an advisory, supervisory, or executive nature as required. These duties include assisting the Director of Service or other appropriate employee in supervising the technical or ancillary services of the local authority or associated bodies. When required, the Executive Technician will act for the appropriate higher-ranking professional employee during that employee's absence. The actual duties of the Executive Technician will depend on the assigned placement but generally include, though are not limited to: For all other cases, the minimum retirement age is 60 years. 6. Driving Licence Where required, holders of the post may be required to drive in the course of their duties and must therefore hold a full, clean Category B driving licence free from endorsement or disqualification. 7. Residence The successful candidate must reside within the district where the duties are to be performed or within a reasonable distance of that district.
