Job Description Working as a cross-skilled Baggage Technician. The function of the role is to provide services for the operation & maintenance of Dublin Airport’s Baggage Handling Systems and baggage control room. Our asset base includes, but is not limited to, 14km of conveyor, Automated sortation units, PLC’s, SCADA systems, HMI Systems, EDS X-ray machines in Ireland’s busiest airport. The role is shift based (24/7),12-hour shifts across a 4-week cycle. You will be working in a team of multi-skilled technicians and operatives in a fully cross skilled environment. The successful candidate will be supported to develop all the requisite skillsets to flourish as a highly skilled technician. Reporting to the relevant Asset Management Team Lead, at the core of this role is the provision of effective planned, reactive and emergency maintenance on various BHS assets, ensuring safe and efficient airport operations. The work is undertaken in both rural and urban settings and includes all aspects of felling, pruning, thinning, rigging, section felling, preserving, planting and protecting trees, sometimes using heavy equipment. They also provide information and advice on specific tree-related issues. There is an increasing focus on maintaining a safe relationship between the trees, their immediate environment and the general public. The role of the Arborist is to carry out any required arboriculture works in a correct manner that meets the objectives in its environment and to industry standards. The arborist should possess the skills that enable him/her to carry out such work in a manner that doesn’t put them, their crew, or the general public at risk, nor cause damage to existing structures, while meeting required standards. On successful completion of the proposed apprenticeship, an Arborist will be able to: Knowledge Equipment RPL (Recognised Prior Learning) Applications will be assessed through RPL policy, with consultation, documentation and assessment.

We are a small company with ten staff, working together. APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM Larry Byrne Engineering Ltd we offer a wide range of training programmes, working on different machinery, vehicles and plants. The apprenticeship consists of four on the job phases with Larry Byrne Engineering Ltd and three off-the job training phases in accordance with Solas scheduling system. WHAT IS METAL FABRICATION The skills are wide and varied, skills such as measuring, marking out, cutting and welding materials. Learning how to use, care and safety operate machinery and equipment ie: Press Brake, Guillotine, Drills, Cutting etc... Welding mild steel, Aluminium , Stainless Steel, Making a livestock body from start to finish, repairing a trailer, repairing agriculture machinery and the odd unusual item. All metal fabrication will be trained in the following, working with a variety of specialised tools: Lather, Milling Machine, Grinders etc.. Assembling new machinery, dismantling repairs/make & fitting of new parts, report writing of completed work. PAY We pay all our apprentices the recommended wage set by the ETB. Review it after 3 months (A well adjusted candidate will be offered above the recommended wage.) A training allowance paid by the local ETB while the apprentices attending the off-the job training. REQUIREMENT Junior Certificate must be completed Must be 16 years old or older Good communciation skills Ability to work as part of a team to enrol in our apprenticeship program. A full award placed at Level 5 on the National Framework of Qualifications (EQF 4) which includes proficiency in Mathematics 3. Have successfully completed an approved pre-apprenticeship training course in an engineering discipline and demonstrate a proficiency in Mathematics similar to O6 in Leaving Certificate 4. In the case where an applicant is 23 years or over (or employed in the OEM sector for 3 years) and does not meet the educational requirements specified above, they may apply through the Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) process
