Purpose of the Role The purpose of the CNS post in Oncology is to improve the quality and service of care through the following: · The CNS will be responsible for a clinical caseload in the area of Oncology throughout the hospital. · Be a resource for colleagues, allied professionals and an advocate for the patient and ensure competence in area of speciality practice. · Be responsible for the provision of nursing, education and management consultation in the area of oncology. · Provide a service, which optimises quality and continuity of care for patients in the Oncology service. · Provide a programme of education and training for multidisciplinary staff which benefits children and their parents. · To co-ordinate and facilitate the discharge of patients within the Republic of Ireland. · To assist staff within the day care unit, in organising the administration of treatment (e.g. Chemotherapy, GCSF, & blood transfusions) in Shared Care centres/ Community for children with Haematological and Oncological Disorders · To link closely with the Shared Care manager in order to provide a national paediatric seamless service to all shared care centres · To support staff in the community to help deliver care the patients and their families may require. Essential Criteria: Be a registered nurse on the active Register of Nurses and Midwives held by An Bord Altranais and Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be so registered AND Be registered in the division(s) of the Childrens Nursing with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann OR In exceptional circumstances, which will be assessed on a case by case basis be registered in another Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives. AND Have a minimum of 1 years’ post registration full time experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made AND Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience or an aggregate of 1 years’ full time experience in specialist area of Paediatric Haematology/oncology AND Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider which verifies that the applicant has achieved a Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 9 or higher award (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above) that is relevant to the specialist area of care and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008). Alternatively provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 or higher standard (60 ECTS or above), relevant to the specialist area of care and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008). The unit has a strong teaching and research ethos and candidates would be expected to participate in the teaching programme and breast research. For one of the positions, previous experience in an Irish Breast Cancer Centre would be desirable. The Sign Language Interpreting Service (SLIS) is an independent body, funded and supported by the Citizens Information Board (CIB), to develop, promote and deliver quality sign language interpreting services to the Deaf community in Ireland, including face to face and remote services . SLIS is working to enhance the availability and quality of sign language interpreting in Ireland in response to the National Disability Inclusion Strategy 2017-2021 and the Irish Sign Language Act 2017. Nature and scope The SLIS Administrator provides administrative support to SLIS services including the referral service, social fund, emergency services, access support service and IRIS (Irish Remote Interpreting Service), as well as general organisational administration. main responsibilities Administration 1. Deal appropriately with all relevant telephone, letter and personal enquiries. 2. Assist in the production of documents and materials. 3. Maintain an efficient records management system and assist in the preparation of administration and management reports. 4. Maintain the office in relation to office supplies, upkeep of equipment, and maintenance of premises. 5. Organise meetings, arranging the venues and necessary facilities, informing participants and taking minutes of meetings as required. 6. Be aware, and on occasion, co-ordinate the diaries of team members as required. Booking and Referral System 7. Manage the day to day operation of the booking and referral system by ensuring the database of interpreters and service users is maintained and interpreters have been correctly allocated to each assignment. 8. Support Deaf citizens to get appropriate access the services through the provision of sign language interpreting. 11.
