Special Lecturer In Palliative Medicine University College
Special Lecturer in Palliative Medicine University College Dublin · 1.0WTE (39 hours) · Fixed Term contract (24 months) · HSE Funded · Based in the Academic Department of Palliative Medicine The purpose of this position is to provide undergraduate education in palliative medicine to UCD medical students. The post holder will engage in undergraduate medical curriculum planning, coordination and teaching and will work closely with the Trinity College Dublin (TCD) affiliated special lecturer. The role will include coordination of postgraduate teaching including Palliative Medicine Grand Rounds, and setting up the new simulation suite within the Education & Research Centre. The postholder is expected to support the research programme within the ADPM, and to develop their own research projects. The post holder will be expected to apply for research funding for these projects, and to publish/present the results of the projects. The post holder will help to support other researchers within the ADPM in conjunction with the Professor of Palliative Medicine. Essential Requirements Qualification: •Hold a recognised postgraduate qualification accepted as an entry point to higher medical training in Palliative Medicine (MRCPI, MRCP, MICGP or MRCGP) • MD or PhD in Palliative Care/Medicine • Full registration in the General, Specialist or Trainee Specialist register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland Experience: •At least one year’s experience in Palliative Medicine or a related specialty at Registrar or Specialist Registrar level • 4+ years post graduate experience •Experience of student education. •Can demonstrate a high standard of clinical competence •Experience in research • Experience in teaching / delivering presentations on recognised courses or at conference • Publication of articles in professional journals • Experience in simulation Desirable Requirements Qualification: • Completed a recognised Educators course Informal enquiries for these positions are most welcome. Role Summary Hermitage Clinic ICT infrastructure is a highly virtualised environment supporting a complex hospital environment. The ICT department provides technical support via its helpdesk and for hospital projects. The role is to provide second level support to Blackrock Clinic staff and coordinate with third party suppliers. Key Job Activities: Working a 40-hour week over 4 days and acting as a key point of customer contact, you will also be expected to reconcile/complete all relevant documentation and issue a certificate of destruction via a hand-held terminal. Remove the console bags from each console and tie them tightly so no paper escapes while transferring to the truck. Ensure that no material is left in the console. Replace the console bag with an empty bag and lock the console. Take material directly to the shredder truck and proceed to shred. Make sure the truck gates are secure so that none of the contents escape from the truck during the shred. Immediately upon completion of the shredding locate the client's for signature. Give and explain certificate of destruction to client. Record time shred was completed. Education: Junior and Leaving Certificates. Experience (EMEAA): Relevant driving experience and a Class C licence, along with a full driver CPC card. The ability to undertake heavy lifting and physically demanding work, involving the safe movement of large wheeled trolleys on and off vehicles. Excellent customer service skills and plenty of flexibility around working hours. Ability to read and understand client information sheets. Ability to write clear messages on daily reporting sheets.
