First Year Apprentice Vacancy Machine build is a highly technical craft role that is crucial to the success of producing the company’s high quality automation equipment for use in the Medical Device and Pharma industries. This is an exciting opportunity for an apprentice to work as part of the engineering project team. You will have the opportunity of working with leading edge automation technologies such as robotics, vision systems, drives, controls systems etc. It’s a hands on role that involves the mechanical and electrical assembly and debug of complex machines. The role contributes significantly to the continued success of Ward Automation. Responsibilities • Working from the design drawings to perform the mechanical and electrical assembly of bespoke machines. • Mechanical, electrical and pneumatic debug of machines. • Liaise and communicate with the different project team members. • Responsible for the quality of the build. • Responsible for ensuring that machine build timelines and targets are achieved. Key Skills • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical and pneumatic drawings. • Capable of clearly understanding the functionality of the equipment being built. • Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative solutions both mechanically and electrically. • A high degree of craft skill with the ability to setup machines to fine tolerances to produce the desired results. • Excellent communication skills. • Proficient computer skills in MS office, experience with mechanical and electrical CAD software is an advantage.

Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice
The Trade of Carpentry & Joinery is very wide and varied. It encompasses most of the skills required by the Wood Trades. These skills required of the Carpenter & Joiner are not confined to those required to work in wood but include skills in the use of metals, plastics and fabrics. The Carpenter & Joiner is also required to work in a cross section of domains within the overall trade. The following are some examples: Joinery Shop: This section of the occupation requires the Carpenter & Joiner to engage in setting out, production and assembling items of joinery which include stairs, doors, windows and built-in furniture. Site Work: Site work is the construction of buildings or houses which require 1st fixing, formwork roofs and 2nd fixing. This section is split into two categories: constructing and civil engineering contracts. Maintenance: Maintenance work requires the Carpenter & Joiner to carry out a variety of tasks in general maintenance and upkeep of public and private buildings, e.g. shops and factories. There are other areas associated with the trade which include renovating buildings, shopfitting, and exhibition/display work. At the end of the apprenticeship, the craftsperson will be able to demonstrate competence in the following skills:

With Avonmore Electrical you will experience dismantle, over-haul, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance opportunities in electro-mechanical machinery including Motors, Gearboxes, Pumps, Fans and Generators. Motor Mechanics Apprentice
First year apprentice, no experience required but would be an advantage. Must have driving licence and rights to work in Ireland. The work of a Motor Mechanic involves the servicing, maintenance and fault diagnosis of automobile and light commercial vehicle mechanical and electrical systems, vehicle component removal, installation or repair according to original manufacturers’ specification. At the end of the apprenticeship, the craftsperson will be able to demonstrate competence in the following skills: Servicing Read, interpret and carry out manufacturers’ instructions for all vehicle service, maintenance and repair procedures. Complete a vehicle report form. Fgas Describe the overall aim of Regulation No. 842/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 May 2006 in relation to the air conditioning systems of automotive vehicles (MACs). List the dangers to personal health and related safety regulations related to the refrigerant gas contained in mobile air conditioning (MAC) systems. Describe the location of possible leaks of refrigerant gas from an automotive air conditioning unit. Engine Diagnose faults, dismantle and reassemble the engine and its ancillary components. Replace timing belts and chains. Use all recommended bolt tightening procedures. Electrical Read and interpret relevant electrical wiring diagrams. Use fault-code reader to interrogate ECU memory and OBD system. Employ a logical and structured fault diagnosis methodology (use of diagnostic flow charts). Measure and interpret quantities of electrical current, voltage and resistance. Diagnose and resolve faults in starter, charging and lighting circuits. Remove and replace vehicle lighting components. Align headlamps. Fuel/Ignition Diagnose and resolve faults in electronically controlled fuel, ignition and emissions control systems. Evaluate exhaust emission levels with reference to NCT/DoT VTM test requirements. Transmission Diagnose faults in manual transmission units. Remove and refit manual transmission units. Support for your Apprenticeship PUNCH will provide full support to their Apprentices; the Civil Engineering Apprenticeship is a blended learning programme. This programme is set out as follows: The Apprentice is a full-time employee of PUNCH. During the academic year the Apprentice attends online classes for 1 day of the week Apprentices will also attend Campus for one additional day per month for laboratory-based classes. There will be a 1-week residential course which will be project-based learning at ATU Galway. The remaining 4 days of the week are based in the office where the Apprentice will develop their knowledge and skills in the work environment. The Apprentice will keep a workplace diary noting the progress against workplace goals, this will be reviewed by their mentor. As well as working on live projects in the office the Apprentice will be set technical projects and assignments to assess their progress.
