QC Technician
Job Overview The QC Technician will be responsible for assisting in daily laboratory tasks, aiding the Quality Control Team. It will be the Technicians responsibility to oversee the calibration/verification of laboratory equipment on a daily basis. The technician will be expected to assist QC analysts with preparation of chemicals and reagents necessary for analytical assessment. On occasion it will be a requirement that the QC technician carry out raw material analysis including but not limited to wet chemistry and/or HPLC/GC. The QC technician will also be expected to assist in the preparation and organization of department documentation.The working hours for this position are Monday to Friday 6am-2pm. This role is responsible for providing drug and alcohol testing services to safety critical business across the UK, Ireland, and overseas. This is an extremely varied role that will include the below duties: • The performance of various analytical procedures, including manual screening and automated methods covering a wide variety of clinical diagnostic and drugs of abuse tests. • The receipt and registration of biological samples into the laboratory • The qualitative and quantitative analysis of biological specimens for drugs of abuse, using biochip array technology and liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry (LCMS) techniques. • The preparation and handling of samples and diagnostic reagents. • The operating of various automated analytical systems. • The accurate maintenance of analytical records and quality documentation. • Strict adherence to chain of custody procedures throughout the analytical process. • The routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation. • The preparation of test records. • The transfer of biological specimens from RTS, ensuring continuity and stability is safeguarded during shipment. • Strict adherence to the company’s confidentiality policy within and outside the organisation. Who can apply? Essential criteria: • Qualified to at least degree level in a Life Science, Biochemistry or Chemistry • Enthusiasm to learn and follow instruction. • Possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks to achieve maximum efficiency without sacrifice of quality. • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Competency with Microsoft Office packages. • An eye for detail with the ability to work well under pressure without sacrificing quality or accuracy. Desirable: • Previous analytical experience in particular with immunoassay, HPLC or LCMS. • Previous experience working within an ISO/IEC17025 regulated environment. • Previous experience in a similar role. • Previous experience in a laboratory setting. • Working knowledge of laboratory Health & Safety including CoSHH.

Essential criteria: • Qualified to at least degree level in Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Immunology or a Life Science. • Experience in diagnostic testing and reagent applications. • Previous laboratory experience. • Excellent communication and organisational skills. • Strong leadership skills and a high level of self-motivation.
