Graduate Curriculum Development Officer

Job Purpose: The Graduate Programme Officer will contribute directly to addressing the Green Skills deficit across the cross-border Construction Sector. Through supporting curriculum development and achieving 2,000 participations in joint training schemes, the role will help: • Accelerate decarbonisation of residential and public buildings • Contribute to achievement of 2030 and 2050 net-zero CO₂ targets • Improve workforce adaptability and regulatory compliance • Promote environmental sustainability across the 9-county Programme Area • Reduce long-term public expenditure associated with environmental underperformance Contract Type: Full Time Fixed Term Contract – 1 year with possible extension. Location: Enniskillen Campus, however travel to other campus sites may be required. Campuses are situated in Enniskillen, Omagh, Dungannon & Cookstown. (Dependant on future developments, the College may reserve the right to relocate staff to other Campuses of South West College). Main Duties and Responsibilities Support the Curriculum Specialist and GRASP Management Team in developing and delivering high-quality digital Green Skills courses. Assist in the design, review, and updating of curriculum content across Green Skills Programmes of Study aligned to construction sector needs. Contribute to the development of training materials in areas such as domestic retrofit, NZEB trades and supervision, PassivHaus design, photovoltaic systems, environmental auditing, and digital construction technologies. Support the development and delivery of the Green Skills Academies, including Women into Construction and Labour Activation initiatives. Assist in the development of joint awards, green apprenticeship pathways, and the Green Skills Training Strategy and Action Plan. Work collaboratively with SWC teams and GRASP partners to ensure programmes align with industry standards, regulations, and emerging sector trends. Support the integration of interactive digital learning resources to enhance learner engagement and practical skills development. Engage with construction sector stakeholders and support collaboration across the GRASP partnership and programme region. Assist with coordination of cross-border programme activities and ensure consistency in programme delivery across partners. Contribute to programme monitoring, maintaining accurate records of recruitment, participation, and outputs. Support reporting, quality assurance, and compliance requirements in line with PEACEPLUS governance. Contribute to programme promotion, outreach activities, and knowledge-sharing events including the Cross Border Teaching and Learning Conference. Provide assistance in The Workhouse office and administration duties including reception cover, dealing with visitor and business user queries, and providing event and meeting support. Implement marketing initiatives to ensure an effective profile of the College and its activities. Participate, as required, in the recruitment and selection of staff for the College in accordance with procedures. Abide by the College’s Code of Conduct and seek to promote the College positively at all times. Abide by all College procedures and ensure these are implemented in the area of responsibility. Qualifications • Foundation Degree (Level 5 or above) from a relevant discipline (e.g., Construction, Building Services Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, Renewable Energy, or a related field). • Candidates who are currently completing a Level 5 or above qualification and expect to achieve a pass upon completion this summer will also be considered. • GCSE English and Maths (Grade A–C) or equivalent. Experience & Skills • Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and/or green skills. • Understanding of decarbonisation and net-zero policy drivers. • Experience developing written content or training materials. • Ability to engage effectively with employers and external stakeholders. • Strong organisational and project coordination skills. • Ability to work collaboratively across institutions and sectors. Desirable Criteria • Knowledge of NZEB, PassivHaus, retrofit, or renewable technologies. • Experience in recruitment, sales, or employer engagement. • Awareness of cross-border collaboration frameworks. • Experience working within education or training environments. Terms and Conditions of Service Salary: Band 4 Scale Points 8–18, £26,824–£31,537 per annum. Commencing at £26,824. Contract Type: Full Time Fixed Term Contract – 1 year with possible extension. Hours of Work: 36 hours per week. Location: Enniskillen Campus, however travel to other campus sites may be required. (Dependant on future developments, the College may reserve the right to relocate staff to other Campuses of South West College). Terms & Conditions: All terms and conditions of employment for this post are as laid down by the Association of NI Colleges’ non-teaching negotiations committees and are drawn from the conditions of service for NJC for Local Authority staff. Holiday Entitlement: 12 public holidays plus 23 days rising to 30 days after 5 years’ continuous service. Pension: The post-holder will automatically be enrolled in the NILGOSC pension scheme that offers a range of benefits commensurate with public sector pension schemes.
