Belfast Central Mission (BCM) is an award-winning leading charity with social care projects and social enterprises across Northern Ireland. With over 300 staff and volunteers delivering services across Northern Ireland to support people at their point of need. Riverside Place provides supported housing to vulnerable young people aged 16-21 years. The young people who are leaving care, or who become homeless, are supported in their journey towards securing accommodation best suited to their individual needs, whilst providing practical and emotional support. Some young people may arrive at our projects with a complex history which can include self-harm, trauma, isolation, poverty, difficulty in forming relationships / trust, and exhibit behaviours and risks associated with their experience. Your new role As a Support worker you will ensure that you listen to the needs and feelings of the young person to enable you to facilitate any necessary help that they need, including interventions and signposting them to other support services to give them every opportunity to get the help that they need and deserve. You will assist the young people to cope with significant changes associated with adulthood, encourage them to make their own decisions and educate them on general life activities in terms of health, hygiene, finance, housing, etc. You will work as part of a team to maintain tidiness, cleanliness and hygiene standards in all communal areas ensuring all health and safety requirements are met. Park Ranger
PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF THE POST: To undertake duties and tasks ensuring all areas are open, safe, well maintained and tidy for the enjoyment of Parks and Cemetery users. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES; 1. Carry out regular patrols of the Borough’s Parks and Cemeteries to ensure that they are kept clean and safe and ensure that visitors are enjoying the facilities responsibly. 2. Carry out checks to identify potential damage or vandalism and report same to Line Manager, other appropriate Council Officers and/or emergency services as necessary. Keep appropriate written records and provide statements and reports as required. 3. Undertake as directed any horticultural and associated maintenance including cleaning duties within all Parks facilities. 4. Have responsibility for opening and closing all lockable areas including gates and buildings as directed. Act as key holder as required. 5. As requested, deliver public facing event activities including supervising and working with volunteers. 6. Undertake the operation of vehicles and associated equipment in a safe, secure and proper manner. 7. Completion of daily vehicle checks and recording of same and reporting of defects before commencing work. Cleaning and lubrication of vehicles and equipment as required. 8. Adhere to and comply with all Council policies and procedures relevant to this role, including arrangements for health and safety and risk management. 9. Ensure appropriate use of supplied IT Equipment, mobile phones and associated software. 10. To comply with and promote equality, health and safety in accordance with Council Policies and legal requirement. 11. Undertake any other duties consistent with the level and nature of the post that may be allocated, to include the interchange of duties to cover leave, employee vacancies or illness. EXPERIENCE · A minimum of one year’s experience in the undermentioned areas: · Experience of working with the public · Experience of record keeping and following procedures. District Warden
About the Role We are recruiting for a District Warden to join our team in Greenbank, Newry . The District Warden (Dog Warden) is a frontline role responsible for enforcing legislation relating to dog control, animal welfare and wider environmental protection across the district. Working within a legislative framework, the postholder investigates complaints, deals with stray and dangerous dogs, issues fixed penalty notices and prepares evidence for legal proceedings where required. The role involves regular patrols, responding to incidents, seizing and impounding dogs where necessary, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws. The postholder often works independently in potentially challenging or confrontational situations and liaises closely with partner agencies such as the PSNI and animal welfare organisations. In addition to enforcement, the Dog Warden provides advice and guidance to the public, promotes responsible dog ownership and contributes to educational initiatives aimed at preventing offences. The role is key to safeguarding public safety, protecting animal welfare and maintaining clean, well-managed communities. Salary Scale Depending on service requirements and in accordance with relevant legislation and Council Policy and Procedure. Where applicable, act as a keyholder and respond to emergency call-outs as required. When required, assist in the execution of the Council's Emergency and Business Continuity Plans.
