This post will be an integral part of the academic staff within the School and College. Lecturing staff actively contribute to the teaching and learning, research and commercialisation/knowledge transfer and internationalisation agendas of the College. MA in Circular by Design The MA in Circular by Design is a part-time programme for those who want to build a deep and nuanced understanding of sustainability and circularity and practically apply that knowledge to their own practice. The programme combines theory and practice and champions collaborative and pre-competitive processes. The MA reimagines design as a catalyst for systemic change challenging linear production models and enabling regenerative, life-centred approaches to materials, ecosystems, society, and culture. It supports creative practitioners in interrogating and disrupting current systems and in designing alternatives that are circular by intent. The programme combines theory and practice and champions collaborative and pre-competitive processes. The Assistant Lecturer will be part of a cross disciplinary team of academics responsible for the delivery and ongoing development of NCAD’s Circular by Design programmes. This specific role supportsparticipants to rethink the purpose of textiles and fashion in order to create regenerative solutions that challenge linear models and promote sustainable transformation across the industry. The role will also contribute to related undergraduate and postgraduate awards, and support the integration of sustainable, circular, and regenerative design across NCAD’s wider curriculum. There is a critical need to build the circular innovation capacity of Ireland’s design sector, and equip the next generation of creatives with the knowledge, skills and mindset needed to rethink why, what and how we make. NCAD is delivering a suite of programmes, for current and future professionals who want to investigate and challenge the current ‘linear’ state-of-play. Through a combination of taught seminars and workshops and independent study, learners will be invited to question and critique the purpose of textiles and fashion today, and investigate alternative ways of designing, producing, selling, using and disposing of textiles and clothing. Using their own design practice, research and experience as a guide, learners will develop their own critical perspective on the local and global challenges the industry faces, and begin to shape and articulate their unique role within it, as change makers. Through live industry-informed and led projects, learners will have the opportunity to collaborate with peers and with external partners such as fashion and textiles brands, retailers and manufacturers, circular innovators, social enterprises and local councils to innovate and test new circular materials, products and services. Role This specified purpose contract will further develop, co-ordinate and deliver NCAD’s part-time MA in Circular by Design and related programmes, with particular focus on sustainability and circularity within the fashion and textiles sector as well as delivering and teaching sustainable, circular and regenerative design principles and practices to learners across the College where required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ● The Assistant Lecturer will be responsible for the ongoing development, reviewing, coordinating and delivery of NCAD’s part-time MA in Circular by Design and constituent awards as well as delivering, developing and supporting NCAD’s fashion and textile sustainable, circular and regenerative design curriculum across the College where required. ● Develop and implement course curriculum including the co-ordination of course content, delivery and assessment. ● Enhance and promote the reputation of Fashion and Textile Sustainable & Circular Design activities at NCAD by liaising and co-operating with other national and international institutions. ● Ensure Fashion and Textile Sustainable and Circular Design content reflects and meet with the requirements of related industries, including regularly reviewing and adapting course content and structure. ● Engage in the student recruitment process including interviews, selection, assessments and examination procedures as required to ensure appropriate number and level of student cohort. ● Undertake and publish high quality research and scholarship in your field of expertise/specialist interest. ● Engage with industry and research partners, leading commercialisation projects and knowledge exchange within research. ● Supervise post graduate students. ● Participate in Department/School/College committees and boards. ● Provide students with feedback in relation to assessment performance and evaluate performance in the professional and practical elements of the course. ● Engage in continuing professional development in subject area by research, creative practice and other appropriate means of engagement in the sector. ● Proactively engage with developments within the field including changing and developing technology and techniques. ● Contribute to the general administration of the School. ● Contribute to the academic life of the School and College. ● Contribute to the wider educational community. ● Undertake such other duties as may be assigned by the Appropriate Officer from time to time. Selection Criteria Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Relief Social Care Worker
Salary: €225 for 15-hour shift - €367.50 for 24.5-hour shift Overview As a Social Care Worker, you will support and care for young people referred to the house. Your responsibilities will include contributing to the assessment of their needs and implementing aspects of Placement, Behaviour Support (BSP), and Individual Crisis Management (ICMP) Plans to help meet these needs. Using the Odyssey Model of Care, you will teach new skills to young people and manage challenging behaviour. Additionally, you will connect them with local resources, network with local providers, and liaise with parents/carers and referral agencies. Main Duties and Responsibilities Assessment and Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans (BSP), Individual Crisis Management Plans (ICMP), and Placement Plans in line with Care Plans for children and young people. Educational Support: Teach young people not engaged in external schooling through 1:1 and group sessions, following their individual educational plans. Assist young people attending school with homework, assignments, and other academic requirements. Provide care according to the BSP, Daily Plans, and ICMP developed for each young person. Documentation and Communication: Document the progress of the young person using Odyssey Social Care’s systems. Details of Service Dublin South, Kildare and West Wicklow consists of 14 primary care networks. Each Network has Primary Care Teams who provide multidisciplinary services to distinct populations. These teams are based in Primary Care Centres located within the populations they serve Occupational therapists provide services to clients of all ages who live within the catchment area. Occupational therapists are key members of the primary care team and have opportunities to participate in integrated care in collaboration with our acute partners, voluntary agencies and community services across the CHO. The OT will be supported at all times by an experienced OT manager who will provide structured supervision, mentoring and clinical governance. The Occupational Therapy manager will support engagement in continuous professional development and opportunities for engagement in quality improvement initiatives. Primary Care Occupational Therapy Adult The model of service is mainly home based with interventions provided including falls prevention, cognitive rehabilitation, community skills training and self-care reablement. Occupational therapists also provide clinic-based services such as lifestyle redesign groups, health promotion groups, assistive technology training, complex seating assessments and upper limb rehabilitation. The primary focus is on helping the client to achieve their maximum potential in the areas of functional participation, health promotion and occupational wellness. Primary Care Occupational Therapy Paediatrics Occupational therapy is provided to children aged 0 – 18 years on a referral basis. The primary focus is to support children meet their maximum potential, through appropriate assessment and goal directed interventions. The model of service is clinic based and/or school based. Both individual and group interventions are provided as appropriate to best meet the child’s needs. Paediatric occupational therapy interventions are evidence based and could include fine and gross motor skills training, handwriting and sensory integration programmes. The occupational therapist would be expected to liaise with the Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) and Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to ensure the needs of the children who live in the area are best met. The occupational therapist provides child centred interventions with all treatment planning based on the individual needs and goals of the child and their family. Integrated Care for Older Persons Senior Occupational Therapist (linked with Tallaght University Hospital, St James University Hospital, Naas General Hospital): The senior occupational therapist on the integrated older person’s service will work alongside a specialist multidisciplinary service primarily targeting and managing the complex care needs of the older person with multiple co-morbidities across a continuum of care. The overall aims of the service are to develop a person-centred care planning approach that supports robust and timely communication across care settings. You will work to reduce Emergency Department (ED) attendance through the development of care pathways that support GPs and others in assessment of older people with escalating care needs. You will provide support and education to the older person, carers and healthcare professionals. The post holder will be based in the community working closely with our acute hospital colleagues across Frailty @ the Front Door teams and other Older Persons services in the acute sector, primary care, community care and with our voluntary colleagues.
