Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – West Region, Children’s Services provide Centre-based respite and community-based outreach services using a person-centered approach to meet the needs of children with Intellectual Disabilities. Qualifications: • Candidates must have - A current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais) is an essential requirement; RNID/RMHN qualification is desirable. • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience gained in services for people with intellectual disabilities. Experience working with children with autism, complex medical needs/sensory needs and supporting positive behaviour is an advantage. • A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads is an essential requirement. GALWAY JOB REF: 81096 The Role: Support Workers provide a key-working supportive role for a group of people supported by the services. This role comprises of two main elements. Firstly, the Support Worker is responsible for ensuring high quality provision of supports to people who use Day services in line with current New Directions policy. This includes supporting individuals where required in a range of daily living skills which aim to build on people supported independence in line with their will and preference. This can include but is not limited to support in areas of Food and nutrition, personal development and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual. Secondly, a major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist people supported by the services with development of Individual Plans and the achievement of associate outcomes, and critically, to support individuals in participating in the ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Senior Staff/Service Coordinator/Area Manager. Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a good general education. A recognised qualification in the field of intellectual disability or a FETAC level 5 course is desirable.
