It is a model 2 hospital with 117 inpatient beds, 7 Day surgery bays, a 9-bedded Medical Assessment Unit, an Injuries Unit and an Endoscopy Unit. Located in South County Dublin and on the border with north Wicklow, St. Columcille’s has a national speciality in obesity management and National Gender Service. In addition to general medicine, day surgery and care of the elderly, St. Columcille’s has an orthopaedic and Stroke Rehabilitation service. The Radiology Department at St Columcille’s Hospital provides Diagnostic imaging services for all inpatients, local injuries/ Medical Assessment Unit patients and OPD patients of the hospital and for all GP patients in the South Dublin, Wicklow region. A satellite Radiology Diagnostics Department will operate, providing Ultrasound and General Radiography in the Bray Primary Care Centre. The Department is equipped with the following imaging modalities: General/ X-ray, CT, Ultrasound and DXA Scanning, mobile X-ray, and Fluoroscopy. Radiology Services are provided for SVUH. The Department participates in the Radiography student training programme UCD School of Diagnostic Imaging with onsite Clinical Tutors. There are good opportunities for cross training and pursuance of further studies within the department. Links are maintained between SVUH and St Michael's Hospital in proximity and within our Hospital Group. There is approximately 12 WTE Radiography staff including Staff grade, Senior, Clinical Specialist and RSM grades. The Radiology staff complement also includes Consultant Radiologists. Nursing staff, Clerical staff and Attendant/ Radiology Assistant staff. The Radiology Department in St Columcille’s Hospital provides Diagnostic Imaging Services to inpatients, outpatients, GP referrals, the Injury unit and Medical Assessment Unit. Radiology Services include General Radiography, CT, Ultrasound, DXA Scanning, and Fluoroscopy An on-call service operates currently 24/7 to facilitate referrals from the Emergency Department and In-patients. Reporting Relationship The post holders will report to the Radiology Services Manager (RSM) or designate in St Columcille’s Hospital. Education & Training · Participate in mandatory training programmes. · Participate in continuing professional development including in-service training, attending and presenting at conferences/courses relevant to practice, promoting and contributing to research etc. as agreed with the Radiography Services Manager or designated officer. · Understand the role of reflective practice in relation to personal and professional development. · Engage in performance review with their Line Manager. · Actively participate in induction / teaching / training / supervision of Radiographers and other staff within the department. Participate in the practice education of Radiography students. · Identify teaching / learning / audit / opportunities within the department for themselves and others. Health & Safety · Work in a safe manner with due care and attention to the safety of self and others. · Implement agreed policies, procedures and safe professional practice by adhering to relevant legislation, regulations and standards. · Adequately identifies, assesses, and manages and monitors risk within their area of responsibility. Annual Registration (i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Radiography Register maintained by the Radiographer Registration Board at CORU AND (ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC). Health A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. Radiographer (Staff Grade) Terms and Conditions of Employment Tenure The current 2 vacancies available is permanent and one whole time. The post is pensionable. The Role The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is delighted to recruit for a Senior Dietitian (0.7 WTE) with a split remit across Adult Services (0.35 WTE) and Children’s Services (0.35 WTE). The successful candidate will deliver a high-quality, evidence-based dietetic service in a range of community settings including clinics, homes, schools, day and residential services. Please see outline of roles below: Integrated Care Programme for Older Persons Senior Speech and Language Therapist ICPOP (linked with Tallaght University Hospital, St James University Hospital, Naas General Hospital): The Senior Speech and Language Therapist on the integrated older persons’ service will work alongside a specialist multidisciplinary service primarily targeting and managing the complex care needs of the older person with multiple co-morbidities across a continuum of care. The overall aims of the service are to develop a person-centred care planning approach that supports robust and timely communication across care settings. You will work to reduce Emergency Department (ED) attendance through the development of care pathways that support GPs and others in assessment of older people with escalating care needs. You will provide support and education to the older person, carers and healthcare professionals. The post holder will be based in the community working closely with our acute hospital colleagues across Frailty @ the Front Door teams and other Older Persons services in the acute sector, primary care, community care and with our voluntary colleagues. Senior Primary Care Adult Speech and Language Therapy The Senior Speech and Language Therapists in the Primary Care Adult service provides assessment and intervention to adults aged 17 years 11 months and older who present with adult acquired communication and / or swallowing difficulties. It is a predominantly clinic-based service, although may include domiciliary appointments if clients are unable to travel to clinics. Alongside face-to-face appointments, assessment and intervention is also delivered via Telehealth to clients where appropriate. Supervision, regular team meetings and peer support meetings are available. Senior Primary Care Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy The Speech and Language Therapy Primary Care Service (SLT) provides assessment and intervention to children and young people (aged 0-18 years) who present with Speech, Language and Communication Needs. The SLT paediatric team works in partnership with children, families, Primary Care team members, as well as other professionals and agencies external to the HSE. The person appointed to this post will work as a Senior Speech & Language Therapist a taking a lead role in the delivery of a quality speech & language therapy service. The Paediatric Primary Care SLT service is predominantly a clinic-based service. Alongside face-to-face appointments, assessment and intervention may also be delivered via telehealth to clients where appropriate. The service is integrated with the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital (RVEEH). The post holder will work as part of the established multidisciplinary Primary Care Eye Team (PCET) which currently includes two consultant medical ophthalmologists, clinical optometrists, an orthoptist, an ophthalmic technician and a staff nurse. Adult and paediatric clinics are delivered from Kilnamanagh Tymon Primary Care Centre in Tallaght with a paediatric service also delivered in Kildare primary care centre. The PCET delivers paediatric and adult ophthalmic care including pre and post-operative cataract clinics, glaucoma clinics, anterior segment laser and medical retina clinics with an intravitreal injection service to be initiated in 2025. The service is paperless with all clinical information being recorded on an electronic ophthalmology system (MediSIGHT). The post holder will act as a specialist practitioner in the delivery of a varied range of nurse-led ophthalmic services with a special focus on the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with Medical Retina conditions. The CNS will have a key role in caring for the growing demand of patients requiring Intravitreal treatments and will be expected to deliver intravitreal injections. The CNS may also work across other clinical pathways including cataract pre and post-operative assessment, glaucoma, and paediatric ophthalmology. The post holder will be expected to utilise a person-centred approach in the delivery of nurse-led services whilst demonstrating expert knowledge and skills in the clinical setting.
