YAP Advocates come from all walks of life and make a huge difference to the lives of Young People and Families. Youth Advocates – Fixed Purpose Contracts – Person Spec and Job Description The Youth Advocate reports to a Team Leader. This post requires working within the YAP strengths-based model, to provide 1:1 support for vulnerable young people and their families and to support them in their home and local communities so that they can achieve their goals. YAP Ireland provides a strengths-based, needs led service for 6-12 months to children, young people and families who are struggling with a range of issues in their lives. You will work intensively with them to achieve positive change and meet their goals. Responsibilities and Tasks: 1. To deliver a 1:1 service to young people and families under the supervision and support of the Team Leader. 2. Together with the Team Leader to build a positive, supportive working relationship with the young person and their family using the YAP strengths-based model to help them achieve their goals. 3. Together with the Team Leader, to develop a plan of work (Individualised Service Plan) to focus on the abilities, strengths and needs of the young person and their families. 4. To carry out day to day work with the young person and family, addressing their needs as outlined in the ISP. This may involve supporting the young person to participate in appropriate education, accessing appropriate services or finding community activities to link the young person into. 5. To promote, enable and empower the young person and families voice to be heard and ensure they have a voice in their service/life/community. This includes activity groups, participation and consultation groups. 6.Together with the Team Leader, to adopt a Wraparound approach that will bring together those key people and services who can offer support to the young person and family during and after the YAP Service. 7. To identify and evaluate the changing needs and interests of the child/young person as the relationship progresses and to adapt the service accordingly. 8. To understand the Health and Safety policies required for all activities with young people including any specific medical history, medications and specific special needs and/or diagnosis. 9. To complete in a timely and accurate manner the required weekly paperwork and to submit to the line manager by the agreed deadlines. 10. To be familiar with all Yap’s current policies and procedures, especially in the areas of Child Protection, Confidentiality and On-Call and to work within those in a professional manner. 11. To attend staff development, training and supervisory sessions as scheduled. This will include regular supervision. Some training courses are mandatory and advocates will be required to attend this training. 12. To undertake other duties as appropriate. Advocate Person SpecificationExperienceEssential Life Experience relevant to young people and families e.g. raising children, child minding, sports coaching, community work, volunteering, youth club or lived experience of overcoming the challenges facing young people and families. Non-essential 3 months experience of working / volunteering within a youth work, family support or community setting Skills Essential A positive attitude towards children and young people and an ability to work from a strengths based perspective, be non-judgemental and creative. A knowledge/understanding of issues affecting young people. Assistant Manager
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST The purpose of the role is to assist in the day to day running of the new Shop whilst motivating and encouraging staff and volunteers to help achieve sales targets. DUTIES: • Assist in managing and developing the Shop in the context of an agreed work plan and agreed financial targets. • Assist in the recruitment, training and appraising shop staff, both paid and voluntary. • Source high quality stock. • Ensure there are always adequate staffing levels in the shop. • Ensure the appearance of the shop internally and externally is attractive to customers and in line with brand standards. • Assist in merchandising, its security and its preparation for sale and display. • Maintain accurate management and information systems. • Ensure the shop is stocked with adequate information and leaflets on Enable Ireland services, staff are briefed accordingly and queries from the public are dealt with in an efficient and sensitive manner. • Assist in the full implementation of Enable Ireland Health & Safety policy in the shop. • Be vigilant and comply with any Health & Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager. • Participate in the efficient flow of information within the organisation by sharing and seeking information as appropriate. • Undertake other duties as may be requested by the line manager from time to time. • Assist and support other Enable Ireland shops if and when required. • Undertake your work in a manner that is friendly, flexible and informal. • Complete all administration and financial work in accordance with Enable Ireland Policies and Procedures. • Contribute to good teamwork in sharing knowledge and skills and supporting colleagues to ensure that the Shop runs efficiently and effectively. Terms & Conditions: Responsible to: Shop Manager Probation: A probationary period of 6 months applies, wherein three probationary meetings will take place to review your performance and suitability for appointment. The probationary period may be extended or terminated for any reason at Enable Ireland’s discretion. Salary: An attractive salary of €18,345.60. Excellent benefits. Annual Leave: Annual leave entitlement is 21 days pro rata per annum plus 2 gift days and proportionately less for less than 12 months service. Pension Scheme: Enable Ireland operates a contributory pension scheme that all employees can join following their start date. Medical: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a medical assessment. Sick Pay: (If applicable) All periods of sickness exceeding two days must be medically certified. Weekly medical certificates are required thereafter. The Company reserves the right to have you examined by its own Doctor after 3 months continuous sick leave. Upon completion of 6 months continuous service with the Company sick pay will be as follows: Full pay less social welfare for the first 13 weeks of sickness in any 12-month rolling period and half pay less social welfare for a further (13) weeks of sickness absence in the same 12-month rolling period. Redeployment: In exceptional circumstances the organisation reserves the right to redeploy you to an alternative role that is suitable to your skills and experience.
