Design Technician
We are a leading lighting consultancy practice, based outside Gorey. We specialise in the design of lighting and associated infrastructure. We want to recruit a design technician. While knowledge of lighting technology would be welcome, it is not essential as appropriate training will be provided. After training, the successful applicant will assist in the design process. This role will suit a person with experience in an engineering or other technical field. The candidate will be educated to at least NFQ level 6 in a related technical discipline. Overview of Role & Context The Campus Secretary plays an essential role in supporting the administration and functioning of the campuses in Wexford which offer a diverse range of courses to both full-time and part-time students. This role is a key contact point for the campus and requires engagement with multiple internal departments and external third party vendors for the smooth operation of the University functions and facilities. This role handles diverse responsibilities across a spectrum of functions including but not limited to reception, academic admissions, finance, HR and estates administration. Key Responsibilities / Duties: The person appointed will have the following duties and responsibilities: • Establish and maintain efficient office procedures, workflows, and scheduling systems to ensure consistency, productivity, and flexibility in managing daily and unexpected priorities. • Train and support new staff through structured induction, role-specific instruction, and on-the-job training, ensuring understanding of University policies, office procedures, and job responsibilities. • Collaborate effectively with academic and administrative staff, sharing responsibilities, contributing to team objectives, and fostering a cooperative and respectful team environment. • Manage internal and external communications professionally, including individual and group email correspondence with staff and students, while maintaining accurate and up-to-date contact lists. • Prioritise and organise workload effectively, identifying urgent and high-impact tasks, delegating where appropriate, and ensuring timely support to students, staff, and the University. • Coordinate appointments, room bookings, examinations, and events using shared calendars and booking systems, including arrangements for external examiners and campus facilities. • Handle confidential and sensitive information with accuracy and discretion, including student records, staff payroll details, travel documentation, and financial requests, in full compliance with University data protection and governance policies. • Undertaking additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager, with the flexibility to work across a range of areas or activities as required. Academic Qualifications Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise Specific Knowledge & Skills Excellent written, numerical and analytical skills Excellent organisation skills Sound judgement and problem-solving skills Be capable of getting through high volumes of work and prioritising tasks Ability to multi-task, accurately receive and record information, and professionally, succinctly Positive team player that works effectively with and supporting others Administrative experience gained in complex environment Specific Personal Qualities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to deal with students and staff in sensitive manner Self-motivated and proactive Assistant Staff Officer salary scale: Pro rata equivalent of €39,099 - €55,460 (based on rates effective
