PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To assist in the safe, hygienic and efficient operation of the hospitality facilities. To provide lecturers with practical help in the kitchen when necessary. Main Duties and Responsibilities Set up and maintain kitchen/service/customer areas in accordance with College procedures; Carry out general kitchen and dining room duties including washing up and clearing away equipment; Clean all kitchens and restaurant surfaces, including floors, equipment, food and other storage areas; Assist with the maintenance of records as required; Empty and clean internal bins and remove rubbish to the designated collection point; Cook, reheat and serve basic food dishes, including transported meals; Provide customer care; When carrying out all duties, comply with the following: (a) The Health & Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978; (b) Acts of Parliament, Statutory Instruments and Regulations and other legal requirements; (c) The COSHH Regulations; (d) Codes of Practice; (e) EHO Food Hygiene Requirements. Wear flat-soled enclosed-toe footwear when carrying out all duties; When carrying out cleaning duties, wear protective clothing or work wear issued; Ensure any cleaning equipment issued must be used and cared for in an appropriate and safe manner, with any defects being reported immediately; Ensure premises are secure as required; Use the correct care and maintenance of the cash register; Correct programming procedures and updating of prices; Correct daily operational procedures to include checking float and audit roll; Count cash daily, assisting in preparing the bank lodgement hand delivered to the Finance Department; Maintain records appropriate to the cash operation; Comply with and actively promote College policies and procedures on all aspects of equality; Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety requirements and legislation in accordance with College policies and procedures; Ensure full compliance with the College’s quality assurance systems and procedures in accordance with College policies and procedures; Undertake any other duties as required by the College’s Principal and Chief Executive or persons carrying his delegated authority. TERMS AND CONDITIONS Terms and conditions of employment are those as laid down by the Non-Teaching Negotiating Committee for Further Education in Northern Ireland and will include locally agreed terms and conditions. Salary Scale Band 3 Scale Column Point 5, £24,790 to Point 6, £25,183 per annum. New appointments will normally be placed on the first point of the scale. Hours of Work The hours of work will not normally be less than 36 per week. The hours of duty, which may be on any of the College sites, will be such as laid down to meet the needs of the College and may include periods of duty after, as well as before, 5.00 pm on any Monday to Friday. Annual Leave Entitlement The annual leave entitlement for full-time staff in a full working year is 23 days. This will increase after 5 years’ service, depending on your grade. Pension Scheme There is an Occupational Pension Scheme relating to employment with the College. Further details will be provided on appointment. Other Employment No other employment should be entered into during the period of employment with the North West Regional College. Job description: 1. Process all ingredients through the Debag & Sieving Procedure (as part of Critical Control Point 1) under the HACCP procedures, incorporating it into the Stevens System. 2. The Debag Room is to be kept to a high standard of housekeeping at all times. It is the responsibility of the Materials Handler to maintain the room throughout the shift. This is extremely important given the nature of the work carried out in this area. 3. The Materials Handler will ensure the provision of stock for the bakery is in place before the next Bakery Shift starts. This stock list can be obtained from the Stevens System. 4. Waste disposal of packaging and foods from Debag in Goods In. 5. To ensure safe working practices are adopted at all times in accordance with Safety, Health and Environmental policies, procedures and legislation. 6. To correctly co-ordinate the transfer within the manufacturing process all materials, and to ensure traceability procedures are followed at all times, 100% compliance with the Stevens System. 7. To communicate and update all relevant parties of any issues or changes. 8. To ensure 100% completion of daily rituals. 9. To encourage colleagues to participate and drive continuous improvement in their area. 10. Any other duties within the post holder’s competence as requested by the Manager.

Key Responsibilities To be responsible for the effective delivery of all administrative activities within the Depot including supervision of the administration/scheduling team to ensure records, reports, and systems are maintained and updated. To provide information and statistics to facilitate the management of the Depot including completion of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. To analyse and resolve operational issues developing, reviewing and changing working practices within the Depot where necessary, and documenting and implementing corporate policies and core values. To prioritise work to meet changing and conflicting demands ensuring deadlines are met, pro-actively prompting actions from meetings and addressing items arising, including effectively managing an accurate record of same. To take day-to-day responsibility for all staff related functions including new start/leaver processes, liaising with the Agency Resource team on live agency worker requests, authorising Agency Timesheets, promoting employee Health and Wellbeing, monitoring and managing attendance and timekeeping in line with the Attendance Management and Flexitime policies. To manage and co-ordinate the Induction Programme for all new starts within the Depot. To manage, maintain, and report on the Depot staffing establishment on a monthly basis to ensure it is kept up to date and accurate. To liaise with call out coordinators on call out rotas and collate call out information for payment by payroll. To provide a user support role in the use and application of technology, mobile devices, and various systems. To monitor the performance of administration/scheduling team and address any issues in a timely manner to ensure improved processes and quality of service. To provide assurance that monthly toolbox talks are completed and the associated records are maintained and safely stored. To manage and control all office expenditure through the online purchasing system and use of the government procurement card (GPC) ensuring appropriate compliance and adherence with established procedures and protocols. To co-ordinate the complaints handling process ensuring replies to informal and formal complaints are completed within target timeframes. To ensure liaison with sub-contractors regarding job progress, escalating any issues to the relevant Supervisor/Depot Manager and managing the processing of sub-contractor invoices. To monitor and record progress on all building control applications. To assist the Depot Manager in Business and Continuity Planning and any other associated planning activities by ensuring high quality effective processes and supporting documentation are in place to ensure continuity and consistency of service as required. To prepare for and support compliance audits and/or ISO accreditation. To assist in the collating, monitoring, and reporting of information to challenge KPI figures where appropriate. To manage the scheduling of and arranging administrative support for meetings including taking and issuing of minutes and other associated administrative tasks and the maintenance of business template letters. Information Management 20. To respond to queries and/or problems encountered with data collection and analysis, including conducting data reviews & assessments. 21. To update and interrogate Management System to analyse performance and provide information for the Depot manager. 22. To maintain good practice in document storage and retrieval, ensuring compliance with General Data Protection Regulations and NIHE Record Retention Policy. People and Performance Management 23. To manage, motivate and develop staff through leadership, mentoring and coaching skills, to achieve business objectives, providing line management, and recognising best practice to deliver an excellent service. 24. To undertake performance reviews and agree and review staff performance objectives, behaviours and development plans in line with organisational policy and provide guidance on personal development needs and advise on and initiate development/training opportunities. 25. To instil and promote an ethos of continuous improvement within the Team, so that current performance standards can be challenged and improved through new ways of working, without compromising service delivery or control. General 26. To ensure effective working relationships with customers and key internal and external stakeholders. 27. To undertake duties in such a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of NIHE. 28. Total Financial Package The salary scale for this post (Band 5) is currently £31,586 – £35,235 per annum. In addition to basic pay we also have an excellent pension scheme, with an employer contribution of 19%. As an employee you will pay a pension contribution rate between 5.5% and 10.5%. Hours* The contractual hours are 37 hours per week and are normally Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
