Dublin Zoo is currently seeking a zoo professional for the position of ‘Zookeeper’ on a full-time basis. Weekly hours will be 39 hours per week on average, including up to 36 weekends throughout the year. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and passionate about wildlife, with the skills required to communicate this passion and knowledge directly to our visitors. They must demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of modern zoo practices in animal husbandry, diets and environmental enrichment, as well as an understanding and knowledge of research, conservation and health and safety practices. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with animals in a Keeper role in a Zoological Garden and/or Wildlife Park, 2 of which must be after the successful achievement of Sparsholt College’s Animal Management Diploma or equivalent. Elephant husbandry experience is essential, with experience in elephant footcare desirable.
