Reporting Relationship The post holder will report directly to the Disability Service Manager, Sligo/Leitrim Disability Services. The post holder will report clinically to the Regional Director of Nursing. Purpose of the Post The Director of Nursing (Intellectual Disabilities) will be responsible for providing expert support and advice across the service. The post holder will have overall responsibility for development and implementation of governance systems across the service. The post holder will have responsibility for the overall management of the service in ensuring that compliance is achieved with National Regulations/Standards as set out by the Health Information Quality Authority for Residential and Community Services and New Directions for Day Services. The focus of the role is on improving the service users experience and quality of service, while delivery agreed Key Performance Indicators and establishing a performance culture and planning and implementing recommendations of National Policies. The post holder will be a member of the Disability Services Management Team and will hold a key role in creating an atmosphere and culture where excellence can flourish with strong multidisciplinary collaboration across the service. The post holder is expected to lead on all relevant agreed strategic planning for the service in line with HSE Policy.

The objective is to promote independence and lifestyle choice in as far as possible: · People with disabilities with care needs must be provided with a continuum of services such as home care, day care and intermediate residential care to avoid unnecessary acute hospital admissions and have their required treatments & supports delivered within their local community at primary care level in as far as possible. · These types of services must be responsive to service user needs and be provided flexibly at the least possible unit cost to build a sustainable system into to the future. A key function of the social care division is to : · Organise and deliver the required services safely and to a set of standards · Reconfigure the available resource through a comprehensive reform process, increasing productivity and changing traditional cost structures in the process. In line with the Department of Health Statement of Strategy 2011-2014, the Social Care division will: · Implement the recommendations of the Value for Money and Policy Review of Disability Service so as to implement reforms to the system of financing and delivery of services including the introduction of individualised budgets. · Enhance the cost effectiveness of services by introduction standardised funding bands for specific types of services for people with disabilities and developing a standardised needs assessment framework to ensure that levels/types of services provided are appropriate to people’s needs. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Catering Services The Catering Officer, Grade III will: ·        Be responsible for the Management, supervision, and monitoring of performance of the catering team ·        Be an integral part of the Management Structure, providing a quality driven, patient and customer centred, team based catering service. ·        Develop good customer relations to include surveying patient opinions. ·        Be responsible for the organisation of catering facilities including continuous menu planning in conjunction with the Chef’s within the unit to incorporate variety and choice of suitable foods to meet the nutritional/dietary needs, specialised diets and personal requests of all service users. ·        Demonstrate an ability to motivate self and others. Tenure The current vacancy available is permanent and whole time. The post is pensionable. Working Week The standard working week applying to the post is to be confirmed at Job Offer stage. Under the terms of this circular, all new entrants and staff appointed to promotional posts from Dec 16th 2008 will be required to work agreed roster / on call arrangements as advised by their line manager. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am-8pm over seven days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement (Implementation of Clause 30.4 of Towards 2016).
