Role Overview Amber Petroleum Ltd, part of the Greenergy Group, is delighted to support the Transport Operations & Commercial Driving Apprenticeship (CDAP). This 2-year programme is suited to those who want to pursue a career in commercial driving and want to learn about the wider aspects of the role of the commercial driver. The programme will be delivered using a blended learning approach with apprentices attending lectures 1 day per week online with ATU Sligo with the remaining 4 days spent embedded in our transport teams. All CDAP apprentices will be assigned a workplace mentor who will guide the apprentice through their journey. Mentors are experienced Transport professionals with valuable industry experience, who will also be trained by ATU Sligo to carry out this important role. During the programme you will gain first-hand experience of the fast-paced fuel industry. Upon successful completion you will achieve a Higher Certificate (NFQ level 6) in Business in Transport Services as well as a C/CE driver license. Key Responsibilities • Complete structured training towards HGV (C & CE) licences. • Assist with daily vehicle checks, loading/unloading. • Learn and apply safe, fuel-efficient, and professional driving techniques. • Shadow experienced drivers on delivery routes to gain practical knowledge. • Gain workshop experience with company mechanic, learning basic servicing, maintenance, and defect reporting. • Follow all health, safety, and compliance requirements. • Develop customer service and communication skills at delivery and collection points. • Accurately complete delivery notes, logbooks, and inspection sheets. • Participate fully in all apprenticeship training, assessments, and mentoring. Person Specification Qualifications and Experience • Full clean Category B licence. • Strong interest in professional driving and logistics. • Reliable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn. • Good communication, teamwork, and timekeeping skills. • Commitment to completing the CDAP apprenticeship.
