Shop Supervisor
The Role: As part of the Northern Ireland Hospice Retail team, the postholder will play an important role in driving sales, managing stock, and supporting the successful day-to-day operation of the shop. This is a busy, hands-on retail position involving the regular handling and preparation of donated goods. The role includes frequent lifting, carrying, moving, sorting and steaming of clothing and other donated items, as well as periods of standing and moving around the shop throughout the day. Applicants should be comfortable carrying out these physical duties on a regular basis. Key responsibilities include maintaining high standards of shop presentation, ensuring donations are attractively displayed, and delivering a welcoming experience for customers and donors. The role also involves accurate cash handling and the completion of routine administrative tasks. Working alongside volunteers is an important aspect of the position, including supporting the recruitment, training, and motivation of a team committed to the Hospice’s mission. The role contributes to creating a positive, community-focused environment where staff and volunteers work together to make a meaningful impact. Flexibility is essential, as occasional support may be required in nearby shops, along with participation in local events and promotional activities that help raise funds for the Hospice’s vital services. Duties and Responsibilities: Sales and Stock: • Strive to exceed sales targets for Donated Goods and other products, employing effective sales strategies. • Ensure the proper sorting, dating, pricing, and preparation of donated goods, always prioritising product safety and quality. • Responsible for maintaining and refreshing garments and footwear to ensure they are presented in pristine condition. • Build and maintain reliable sources of stock by actively networking with colleagues, the community, customers, and volunteers. • Execute routine stock control procedures, including timely culling, as needed by the Warehouse or Retail office. Administration: • Adhere to cash handling procedures, promptly depositing generated cash at the bank to minimise the risk of loss. • Complete all relevant administration tasks, including daily banking, within agreed timescales. • Ensure the shop's physical and operational security, implementing necessary measures. • Contribute to the recruitment and selection of shop volunteers. • Provide effective training to volunteers, ensuring they are well-equipped for their roles. Building Works Supervisor
A permanent vacancy currently exists within Mid and East Antrim Borough Council for the following post and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates:- Building Works Supervisor 37 hours per week Scale P01 and in the range SCP 29-32 (Currently £41,177 - £44,253) Location – The location of this post will be confirmed following the appointment process and may be subject to review as part of the review of services. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB Assist with the day to day planning, management, supervision and co-ordination of Facilities Maintenance and Minor Works. Provide a creative and innovative approach to the operational management and development of the following key functional areas: Property Maintenance; Minor Works; DDA; and Asbestos Register. Assist with the implementation and delivery of a high quality service to meet the needs of the organisation, following all internal policies and relevant legislation and regulations. Effectively manage the performance of staff by setting objectives, which will achieve the necessary results and support the continuous improvement of the service.
