Transport Driver Trainer

The primary focus of the Driver Trainer is to assist the transport management team with any training, driver performance issues that need to be addressed and on occasions provide support nationally if deemed necessary. Key Accountabilities: · Liaising with transport management team to organise, existing and new drivers driving Assessments  · Supporting new driver inductions · Ongoing updating and review of the Training Matrix, monitoring and advising of updates and requirements · Identify training/retraining needs across the team · Conduct regular driver observations and assessments, liaising with management team on driver behaviour regarding health & safety, food safety, customer service, driving skills · Assist management team with investigation and accident analysis as required · Retraining / driver coaching after accidents · Drafting, updating and roll out of Tool-Box Talks · Support management team as required · Undertake new and updating of existing customer Site and delivery point Assessments and task risk assessments · Additional duties as required Requirements: · Current Manual Handling, Train the Trainer, Driver Assessor qualifications would be desirable · Excellent knowledge of transport procedures · Excellent communication & people skills, you must be able to motivate & encourage people to adapt to new procedures/practises through both presentation & practical demonstrations · Flexibility regarding working hours - can vary depending on certain requirements · Be adaptable to change · Ability to work independently but also as part of various teams  · Strong organisational skills and be able to plan training sessions around tight schedules · Proactive, enthusiastic and innovative approach to work with the ability to offer new ideas · Personal commitment to improving your own knowledge and skills and a passion for continued learning and development · Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous Core Competencies: · Understanding your customers – acts as a role model in personal approach to internal and external customer goals. This role will play a key part in the overall growth of the organisation along with helping to maintain our core ethos here are Sysco – keeping the customer at the heart of everything we do. Summary: Focused on leading our Transport team in our busy distribution centre and responsible for the operational planning & execution of our distribution functions in a state of the art Distribution Centre. You must have experience of leading and building teams to drive performance, engagement and support our vision to being our customers’ most valued and trusted business partner. Key Accountabilities: · Co-ordination of all depot activities and efficient dispatched of routes daily, ensuring the smooth running of depot while ensuring delivery procedures and policies are adhered to at all times · Coaching and motivating members of the delivery team in line with performance and absence management processes to ensure concerns are managed appropriately. Analyse trends where appropriate, coach and where necessary follow the disciplinary processes. · Maintaining open ongoing communication with departments across the business including sales, warehouse and with the transport team, including daily/weekly briefings with the team · Ensuring equipment breakdown and repairs are minimized and reported · Ensuring that company vehicles are properly maintained, cleaned and safely operated to reduce accidents and enhance the company brand · Manage incoming and outgoing goods and backhaul collections on a daily basis · Relief driving as necessary · Identifies, coordinates and delivers training as appropriate to meet driver needs · Ensuring the premises are maintained to the highest standards · Ensuring Security and Health & Safety Procedures are adhered to at all times · Leading by example and applying company policy and procedures in a fair, consistent and unbiased manner Requirements: · 3+ years’ experience in a relevant management / supervisory role in a high volume, technology driven, time sensitive distribution operation · Experience within the Food distribution industry is advantageous · Competent in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word · Ability to plan and organise your own and your teams work activities in a safe, efficient and effective manner · Strong knowledge of the Department of Transport regulations (Tachograph legislation, Work Time Directive etc.) · Proven ability to manage a team to deliver the highest standards of service · Proven ability to be an effective decision maker with a hands-on approach to the business · Ability to analyse, interpret and explain and present relevant business data · Fluent English – reading and writing · High level of flexibility and problem solving · A full clean Category C Drivers License, valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Card and have a digital tachograph card would be advantageous · Must possess a strong knowledge of the surrounding geographical area Core Competencies: · Building Effective Relationships  – Is a role model for maintaining constructive and effective relationships with others across departments and other boundaries.
