The College is seeking applications for a Design Engineer as part of the PEACEPLUS North West Centre for Advanced Manufacturing 2 (NWCAM2), to be based at our Greystone campus for a fixed-term position until June 2029. The postholder will provide engineering and technical support for the delivery of Strand 2 of the PEACEPLUS NWCAM2 programme. Reporting to the NWCAM2 Engineering Research & Innovation Project Manager, the NWCAM2 Design Engineer will support the design, development, and implementation of practical engineering solutions for SMEs in the Health & Life Sciences sector. The role will focus on applied engineering design, prototyping, and technical problem-solving, ensuring that innovative concepts are translated into high quality, deliverable outcomes within agreed project timelines. The postholder will offer targeted support in innovation, technology adoption, and sustainability, helping SMEs to embed advanced manufacturing processes, low carbon solutions, and research outputs into practice. They will also work collaboratively with academic partners and industry stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of measurable improvements in productivity, environmental performance, and competitiveness. Key Responsibilities: - In this role you will be working within the IT Department providing technical support on applications and a range of technical software and systems. Main Duties: · You will be assisting with the effective delivery of IT support across all departments, including software & hardware support in a timely manner. · Ensure the IT department maintains an adequate supply of consumables and equipment as necessary. · Minimise interruption to IT supply and troubleshooting IT related problems in a timely manner. · Ensure all Hardware and software is asset managed & licensing is legally compliant. · Liaise with third-party suppliers or support services where necessary. Responsibilities: · 1st Line Technical Support across all departments. · Active Directory (AD) Administration. (User/Security Group creation & Permission allocation) · Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Administration (Assign & set-up internal extensions/rules) · Diagnostic testing of Windows 11 and Linux Operating Systems. · Maintain Network infrastructure. E.g. DNS, DHCP, Port forwarding, switch management. · Proactive server support & upkeep. · O365 tenant Management. · Production/Office Software & Equipment diagnostics & maintenance. · ERP (NAV) Maintenance & Development. · Data Analysis including warehousing & Report creation · Asset Management & Documentation of Standard Operating Procedures. · CCTV administration & maintenance. · Liaise with 3rd party suppliers where appropriate e.g. Managing the Delivery of new equipment. · Train & transfer knowledge to internal teams. Help develop, train and ensure adherence to SOP’s and risk assessments. · Use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as per training. · Challenge unsafe behaviour in a timely way. · Promote and encourage reporting of hazards and near misses. · Consult HS&E Manager on any identified risks and agree and implement control measures. Other Duties · Quality – Ensure standards are met for all Customer audits, SEDEX audits and BRC audits. · Adhere at all times to the Ethical Trading Initiative Base code.
