The Coombe Hospital, The Rotunda Hospital and the National Maternity Neonatal Transport Programme (NNTP) are committed to a philosophy and practice of quality management to ensure the best possible services to patients. This entails an organizational structure that: • Devolves decision making and accountability, within clearly defined delegations, to patient care providers as close as possible to the consumer. • Encourages and supports teamwork and coordination amongst staff. • Develops the participation of consumers and workers in the planning and evaluation processes. The successful candidate will participate in • Triage and stabilization advice processes with appropriate supervision. • Audit activities. • Development of research projects. • Education activities specific to transport as well as general neonatology as offered by Rotunda or Coombe teaching program. • Clinical duties in NICU in a supernumerary capacity. • Teaching activities within the transport programme. Some of these activities may include Outreach Education in non-tertiary hospitals. The ideal candidate will have: • A minimum of 12 months’ experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as a Paediatric trainee. • A high degree of competence in the technical procedures related to NICU patients, including endotracheal intubation, cannulation of umbilical vessels and peripheral veins and arteries, and emergency drainage of pneumothoraces. • Ability to demonstrate independent expertise in the assessment and management of critically ill babies, including expert resuscitation skills. • Good understanding of transport specific equipment. Qualifications & Experience • Successful completion of MRCPI examinations or equivalent is desirable. • Minimum of 12 months’ experience in Level 3 NICU as a Paediatric trainee. • Previous neonatal critical care transport experience is essential. • Knowledge of the Irish health care structure is desirable. Overview of the position • Position is tenable from January 2026 until July 2026. The key area of responsibility is to provide medical care during primary neonatal retrievals. Fellow is expected to be primarily scheduled for transport duties within the current agreed usual working hours as outlined by local and national regulations. • The Fellow may provide back up support in NICU when not out on retrievals. Outside of Coombe/ NMH “transport weeks”, the Fellow may participate in the work within acute inpatient departmental setting or on board of the NNTP Critical Care Vehicles as tasked by Neonatal Transport Consultant. During this time, the Fellow is expected to progress their research project. Fellows do not participate on OPD workflow. • Position is currently not accredited for training by the RCPI; however, NNTP seeks this accreditation in the view of proposed Irish Neonatal-Perinatal training scheme. This post is generally suitable as a standalone post outside of an HMT scheme. • Salary is in accordance with current HSE pay scales for Registrars. Rosters conform with the principles of safe working hours. There will be a requirement for on-call duty. • Nights and weekends on duty for NNTP are currently non-resident (provided the post- holder resides within 30 minutes of base). Nights and weekend on duty for Coombe/NMH NICU (optional) are resident as per established hospital practices. This post is tenable from January 2026 until July 2026. Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities · Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA, ACCA, or CIA preferred) 3+ years post qualification experience in financial control, compliance, or audit · Educated to certified accounting qualification level (NFQ Level 6/7 on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland QQI) in Accounting/ Business/ Commerce. · Strong understanding of financial regulations and internal control frameworks preferably big 4 organisation background or accounting firm an advantage · Knowledge in Accounting System Internal monitoring Control Cycle development and other Finance & Procurement systems an advantage · Strong financial and commercial acumen with a well-developed understanding of financial principles. Additional experience in other functional areas is an advantage. · Proficiency in financial systems Intermediate/advanced IT Microsoft skills (Excel, Power-Point and Word) and Effective Project planning experience and the ability to deliver project milestones to time and quality a must. · Ability to work within a team and motivate colleagues and to work collaboratively to ensure business objectives are met in pursuit of delivering high quality Business Process Control Environment. · To effectively communicate with stakeholders, including heads of departments, auditors, and employees.
