Reporting to the Engagement and Support Manager of Access UCC, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day management of post entry supports for Mature, HEAR and QQI students in Access UCC along with cohorts in the National Access Plan (e.g. Irish Traveller, Care Experienced) and other identified priority groups. The post holder will be required to work closely with and under the guidance of the Engagement & Support Manager - Access UCC. Access UCC works in partnership with colleagues within and outside of the University to increase equity of access to University College Cork and to ensure student success for our diverse learners. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary: Appointment may be made on the Admin III Salary Scale: €60,260 - €71,946 (Scale B) / €57,375 - €68,462 (Scale A). Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy. As required by public pay policy for the higher education sector, new appointments to a direct entry recruitment grade will generally be at the minimum (1st point) of the relevant scale. For existing public servants, the restriction to the first point on scale may be varied where a person is appointed to the same or an analogous grade, role or position as their previous public service employment. The rate of remuneration for all appointments may be adjusted from time to time in line with government policy. The working hours for administrative staff are 35 hours per week with normal hours of duty from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday, with 1 hour for lunch break. Annual Leave will be 29 days per annum. This leave is exclusive of public holidays and Good Friday. Pension: The Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 established the Single Public Service Pension Scheme. In general, anyone taking up pensionable public service employment on or after 1 January 2013 is a member of the Single Scheme. The Act provides that most members of the Single Scheme have a minimum pension age consistent with the age of eligibility for the State Pension (Contributory) and a compulsory retirement age of 70. A member of this group is generally referred to as a “Single Scheme member”. However, applicants who have previously worked in a pensionable post (non-Single Scheme terms) in the Irish Civil/Public service may be offered membership of the UCC Pension Scheme. The normal retirement date in this scheme is age 65. A compulsory retirement date of 70 may apply depending on date of first employment in the Irish Civil/Public service. The relevant pension scheme will be confirmed to the successful applicant on completion of the Pensions Declaration form prior to taking up employment. Applicants that have previously availed of an Irish Public Service Scheme of Incentivised early retirement or enhanced redundancy payment should ensure that they are not precluded from re-engagement in the Irish Public Service under the terms of such Schemes. The salary quoted is subject to a deduction from salary at the rate of .06%. The UCC Income Continuance Plan (ICP) provides a source of income in the event of long or short-term temporary disability. As part of your contract of employment you will be automatically included in the ICP with effect from the same date provided you have not previously opted out of the plan or you have been declined for cover under previous contracts of employment with UCC. An additional benefit is membership to Specified Illness Cover (SIC) which pays a once-off lump sum benefit in the event of a member being diagnosed with a specified illness. The cost of membership of both plans will be deducted from your salary. The current combined membership rate is 1.05% of your salary. The Pay Related Social Insurance Class A1 rate of Pay Related Social Insurance (PRSI) applies to the post. Voluntary Health Insurance: VHI, Laya Healthcare, and Irish Life Healthcare offer group schemes. Premiums must be paid via the UCC payroll. The Laya Group No is 32805 and VHI Group No is 137. An Garda Síochána seeks to employ permanent Clerical Officers and Temporary Clerical Officers nationwide in An Garda Síochána. Following the completion of the competition, a panel will be established, which will remain in place for 2 years from the date it is first created. The responsibilities of the Clerical Officers may vary depending on the assigned department within An Garda Síochána. The role encompasses a range of administrative and operational support tasks, contributing to the efficient delivery of services across the organisation. Responsibilities Where probation is suspended, An Garda Síochána will notify you of the circumstances relating to the suspension. All appointees will serve a one-year probationary period. If an appointee who fails to satisfy the conditions of probation, a serving member of Garda staff in An Garda Síochána immediately prior to their appointment from this competition, the issue of reversion will normally arise. In the event of reversion, an employee will return to a vacancy in their former grade. Hours of attendance Hours of attendance will be fixed from time to time but will amount to on average not less than 41 hours 15 minutes gross including lunch breaks, or 35 hours net per week. The Organisation of Working Time Act The terms of the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997 will apply, where appropriate, to this employment. This allowance is subject to the usual conditions regarding the granting of annual leave, is based on a five-day week and is exclusive of the usual public holidays. The annual leave for the temporary positions will be on a pro rata basis. Sick Leave Pay during properly certified sick leave will apply in accordance with the provisions of An Garda Síochána Sick Leave Policy. Where an employee is eligible for Illness Benefit (IB), they must comply with the procedures for claiming IB from the Department of Social Protection and must confirm that they have mandated the IB payment directly to An Garda Síochána. SECTION 1: THE ROLE Cork County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons, who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which vacancies for Permanent Part time Senior Library Assistant (Grade 4) Branch Library Ballyvourney may be filled. The library service is delivered through a branch and mobile network, supplemented by a growing suite of digital services. The 25 branch libraries are in the main towns throughout Co. Cork and include the Library Headquarters on Carrigrohane Road, which also serves as the centre for Reference and Local Studies, bibliographic services, and administration. Towns and villages not served by a branch library are served by a fleet of 4 mobile libraries. Cork County Library aims to empower communities by providing access to resources that educate, inform, enlighten and enrich the lives of their citizens, by supporting and promoting literacy and a love of reading, and by collecting and preserving resources relating to the cultural heritage of Co. Cork. The role of the Senior Library Assistant is to provide support to branch managers or in the case of part-time branches and mobile libraries, oversee the branch/mobile unit. The Senior Library Assistant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the library service, assisting with the delivery of work programmes that will meet the goals, targets and standards set out in national and local development plans. SECTION 5: TENURE The position is permanent and part-time. The post is pensionable. SECTION 6: REMUNERATION The weekly wage scale for the post effective 1st August 2025 rate is; Hourly Rate €19.50 - €30.07 The rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. In accordance with Departmental Circular Letter EL 02/2011, a person who is not a serving local authority employee on or after 1st January 2011, will enter the scale at the minimum point. The wage shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. The awarding of increments is subject to satisfactory service. Holders of the office shall pay to the local authority any fees or other monies (other than their inclusive salary) payable to or received by them by virtue of their office or in respect of any services which they are required by or under any enactment to perform. SECTION 7: ASSIGNMENT / LOCATION OF POST The vacancy to be filled will be based at the Ballyvourney Library. Cork County Council reserves the right to assign you to any department, premises or district in use by the Council, now or in the future. Changes in location of employment will not result in payment of disturbance money or compensation. The person appointed will be required to provide him/herself at his/her own expense with the necessary mode of travel to and from work. SECTION 8: WORKING HOURS The normal hours of work at present provide for a 4 day, 25 hours per week as outlined below Thursday Closed Friday 9.30 a.m.–1 p.m., 2–5:30 p.m. Saturday 9.30 a.m.–1.30 p.m. Sunday Closed Monday Closed Tuesday 9.30 a.m.–1 p.m., 2–5:30 p.m. Wednesday 9.30 a.m.–1 p.m., 2–5:30 p.m. Saturday work is the norm and evening work is also a possibility. Branch hours may vary. Normal library arrangements for Saturday working will apply in respect of such activities. Working Hours may vary. Senior Library Assistant roles based in other Branch Libraries or Library HQ are subject to a five-day, thirty-five hour working week. Cork County Council reserves the right to alter the hours of work from time to time. All hours worked will be subject to the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997 and the Organisation of Working Time Act (Regulations) 2001.
