AGE REQUIREMENTS Candidates must be 18 years of age and less than 39 years of age on the date of their application. 3. MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must have attained the required minimum educational qualifications at the time of entry into the Naval Service. A candidate for enlistment as an Able Chef must have completed one of the following: a. FETAC Level 6 in Culinary Arts, b. Quality Qualifications Ireland Level 6 in Culinary Arts, c. NTCB Level 6 in Culinary Arts, d. National equivalent of any of the above. 4. MEDICAL AND PHYSICAL STANDARDS Candidates must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect, abnormality, physiological condition or past history of serious illness likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his/her duties. a. Height: The minimum height requirement is 157.48 cm. Physical standards and weight must be in keeping with height and age. b. Vision: Vision must be not less than 6/36 in each eye, corrected to not less than 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other. Normal night and colour vision are required. Both eyes must be free from disfiguring or incapacitating abnormality and free from acute or chronic disease. The eligibility, or not, of applicants who have had previous incisional or laser treatment to correct visual acuity will be determined at the Medical Examination. Please see Annex B for further information. c. Dental: Candidates must be free from any serious periodontal disease and possess teeth to a specific standard, which is not less than the equivalent of eleven over eleven natural teeth functionally opposed. In certain circumstances artificial teeth may be acceptable. d. Hearing: A good standard of unaided hearing is essential. Candidates will be required to undergo audiometric examination at which: (1) The sum of the hearing threshold at 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 kHz should not exceed the age and gender related warning levels contained in the "Guidelines on Hearing Checks and Audiometry Regulations 2007" , issued by the Health and Safety Authority. (2) Candidates under 25 years of age must be able to hear all measured pure tones up to and including 8kHz at 20dB in each ear. Candidates aged 25 and older must be able to hear all measured pure tones up to and including 8kHz at 25dB in each ear. Candidates must also be free from acute or chronic ear disorders. Candidates are advised to avoid all sources of loud noise and music for a period of 48 hours prior to this examination as exposure to such noise may adversely affect the results of the examination. In addition to basic pay and Military Service Allowance (MSA), Able Chefs are currently paid the following: NAVAL PAY: Naval Pay is payable at a rate of €2.91 per day. TECHNICAL PAY: On successful completion of training, an Able Chef receives Technical Pay (Group 2) at a rate of €28.31 per week. PATROL DUTY ALLOWANCE: Patrol Duty Allowance is payable at a rate of €56.14 per day. This allowance is only paid for days afloat on sailing order. Note: It should be noted that the rate of remuneration and payment of the allowances outlined above are subject to review and adjustment on an ongoing basis in accordance with changes applicable across the public service generally as per Government policy. Method of Payment Currently an Able Chef is paid on a weekly basis by means of electronic funds transfer to a designated financial institution. What is a Naval Service Recruit A Naval Service Recruit enlists for General Service in the Other Ranks of the Defence Forces. Who we want Naval Service Recruits go on to form the backbone of the Irish Naval Service. Prof Bobby Smyth, Consultant Psychiatrist Email : bobby.smyth@hse.ie Tel: 01-9214978 Details of Service The Youth Drug & Alcohol (YoDA) Service provides treatment to adolescents under the age of 18 who have drug and alcohol problems. The service deals with the full spectrum of adolescent substance use disorders. The service offers a comprehensive outpatient treatment to clients. In terms of the Department of Health report on services for under 18s, it is a Tier 3 multidisciplinary outpatient service (Department of Health and Children, 2005). The initial broad aims of the service were: · To ensure that appropriate services/treatment are provided to young people with substance use disorders. · To demonstrably reduce the harm caused by substance use to young people. · To develop the capacity of service users to solve their own difficulties. · To provide education to young people in relation to substance use issues. · To establish through rigorous scientific research appropriate interventions for the target client group. · To provide a specialist consultancy service to relevant professionals that will support them in developing their skills in treating the target population. The service is led by a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. Other disciplines in the team include Clinical Nurse Specialists, Counsellors, a Family Therapist and NCHDs training in psychiatry. The staffing compliment is increasing in 2024-2025 as YoDA is one of two pilot sites for implementation of the new Model of Care for Adolescent Dual Diagnosis. This will involve input by staff from new disciplines including an Outreach worker and a Senior Social Worker. Many young people with a substance use disorder also have comorbid mental health problem, known as dual diagnosis. YoDA has increasing links with a range of inpatient and community-based child & adolescent mental health services. The service has a trauma-informed and systemic focus, viewing family participation in treatment as very important Team members require the skills to build and maintain relationships with family member and other carers. As young people can also be involved with a range of other services such as CAMHS, TUSLA, Probation, Education and Youth services, team members require skills in interagency working. The key documents underpinning the service development are the Department of Health report on under 18s from 2005 [ https://www.drugsandalcohol.ie/5981/ ], the National Drugs Strategy 2017-2025 and the HSE Dual Diagnosis Model of Care (2023) [https://www.hse.ie/eng/about/who/cspd/ ncps/mental-health/dual-diagnosis-ncp/ ] . A number of new tier-2 adolescent Addiction services have developed in CHO 7 in recent years. A key role for YoDA is the provision of support to those services in assessing and managing the co-morbid mental health needs of their clients. The service operates via a ‘hub & spoke’ type model. The main hub is currently based on Airton Rd in Tallaght. There is also hub in Cherry Orchard Hospital. The service also in-reaches into a small number of community locations (‘the spokes’ or satellite services) in peripheral parts of the catchment area. YoDA has a track record for conducting research, with many publications in national and international scientific journals, with input from all professional disciplines in same. Recruitment Coordinator • 1.0WTE (35 hours) • Grade IV • Indefinite duration contract • HSE funded • Based in Harold’s Cross The successful candidate will work closely with the Manpower Manager and as part of the Human Resources team to co-ordinate recruitment activity and carry out recruitment administration, ensuring compliance with standards, policies, best practice and employment legislation Essential Criteria: Qualification: • Have satisfactory experience as a Clerical Officer in the HSE, TUSLA, other statutory health agencies, or a body which provides services on behalf of the HSE under Section 38 of the Health Act 2004 Or • Have obtained a pass (Grade D) in at least five subjects from the approved list of subjects in the Department of Education Leaving Certificate Examination, including Mathematics and English or Irish. Candidates should have obtained at least Grade C on higher level papers in three subjects in that examination. Or • Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent examination in another jurisdiction Or • Hold a comparable and relevant third level qualification of at least level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework maintained by Qualifications and Quality Ireland, (QQI) Experience: • Minimum of three years’ experience, in the last five years, in an administration role one of which is based in a fast-paced Recruitment or HR Department. • Experience of working with Microsoft Office Packages – Word/Excel/PowerPoint/ Access.
