Senior Medical Scientist - Cellular Pathology
Senior Medical Scientist (0.5WTE, Permanent) in Cellular Pathology The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital is a 730 bed multidisciplinary academic teaching hospital located in central Dublin. It is the national tertiary referral centre for the management of spinal injuries and cardiothoracic surgery, including heart and lung transplantation. It is a designated cancer centre and has regional gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, neurology and dermatology services. In association with University College Dublin the Mater is part of the Ireland East Health Group. The Cellular Pathology Department is accredited ISO15189 Standards and provides a broad spectrum of diagnostic testing and acts as a referral laboratory for the investigation and management of patients with a variety of disorders. Areas of specialist expertise within the laboratory include Cytology, Histology, Histochemistry, Immunohistochemistry and In-situ Hybridisation, and Molecular Diagnostics. The department is active in research and development, has participated in many research projects and has had work presented at both national and international levels. CNM, Acute Medical Assessment Unit
The purpose of the CNM 1 role is to be creating and maintaining a therapeutic environment for the service users in providing optimum standard of care within the area of Infectious diseases. The primary role of this post holder will be of clinical and managerial focus in team building and maintaining relationship with service users, staff and students. Specialist Medical Scientist, National Isolation Unit
The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, in the RCSI Hospital Group, is a multidisciplinary academic level 4 teaching hospital located in central Dublin. It is the national centre for specialities and super specialities including but not limited to: heart surgery, heart and lung transplant, spinal injuries and adult extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). It is a designated cancer centre and has regional gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, neurology and dermatology services. The National Isolation Unit (NIU), for adult patients, is also located at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital, Dublin and is the national referral centre for high risk suspected and confirmed cases of VHF/high consequence infectious diseases (HCID). It is designed to admit, isolate and treat patients suspected or diagnosed with highly infectious diseases that are referred from all over Ireland who have both hazardous and highly infectious diseases. The Unit will also provide essential care of infectious diseases stemming from bioterrorism. A bespoke/dedicated BSL3 laboratory, under the governance of Microbiology will serve the NIU, processing patient samples that have the potential to contain Hazard Group 4 (HG4) and Hazard Group 3 (HG3) organisms and novel pathogens of high consequence. The post holder, under the direction of the Lead Consultant Microbiologist and Chief Medical Scientist for Microbiology will be responsible for oversight of all activities required to commission, activate and maintain the NIU BSL3. Candidates must be able to provide evidence that they satisfy the requirements of the Department of Health and Children, CORU and those of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine as laid out for their role as Specialist Medical Scientist regarding qualifications and Membership. PACS Manager, Clinical Specialist Radiographer
Job Purpose: The PACS Manager Clinical Specialist Radiographer is responsible for the effective management of the Radiology Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) and works in close collaboration with the Radiology Information System (RIS) Manager in Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) reporting to the Radiography Services Manager and Radiology Directorate Manager. This position requires the ability to lead, guide and supervise staff; the ability to manage in a rapidly changing environment and the willingness to undertake additional duties that may be assigned from time to time. This is one of two PACS Manager roles at MMUH; PACS Manager for Radiology and PACS Manager for Cardiology.
