The role: The successful candidate will be involved in the development and implementation of an Arts Programme for adults with an intellectual disability, which encompasses educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development. The Role: The Support Worker role is to support the person in all aspects of daily living focusing on the individual’s ability and promoting independence and development of skills at all times. The Support Worker will assist people with the achievement of personal outcomes and in participating in the ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking. The Support Worker is also responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes meals, household tasks, personal and intimate care and other related aspects of physical well-being. Reporting/Responsible to: Social Care Worker/Staff Nurse/Team Leader/Team Manager depending on location. Qualifications, Experience & Skills: Ø Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification in the field of intellectual disability or a FETAC level 5 course is an advantage. A QQI Level 5 or higher is desirable. Ø A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads is an essential requirement. It may also be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence. Ø Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability/autism/complex needs is desirable, however, induction and training will be provided. Senior Executive Technician
THE ROLE: Reporting to a designated senior officer, Senior Executive Technicians work as part of a team developing the implementation of civil engineering and multidisciplinary programmes in the areas of roads and associated structures, housing, and other ancillary services. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POST CHARACTER: Each candidate must be of good character. HEALTH: Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. For the purpose of satisfying the requirements as to health, it will be necessary for successful candidates, before they are appointed, to undergo at their own expense a medical examination by a qualified medical practitioner to be nominated by the Local Authority. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A Senior Executive Technician is responsible for the delivery of particular services to the public. A person may also be required, if applicable, in respect of the Local Government (Spouse and Children's Contributory Pension) Scheme, to contribute to the local authority at the rate of 1.5% of pensionable remuneration in accordance with the terms of the scheme. CORLANN – WEST REGION POST OF TEMPORARY FULL TIME STAFF NURSE/ENHANCED NURSE CHILDREN’S SERVICES, GALWAY CITY & COUNTY JOB REF: 96217 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Staff Nurse/Enhanced Nurse appointments within the Children’s Services may be made over the next 6 months. Location: This post is primarily located in Crannog Children’s Respite Service. Crannog provides a respite service to children from 6 years of age up to 18 years of age who have a wide range of needs including those with Physical disability, complex medical needs, Autism and behavioural needs. There may also be a requirement to cover hours in the other Children’s Services including Crannmor Respite, Rosedale School and the Child Development Centres located in Galway City. Candidates will be required to be completely flexible in this position and will be required to work a variety of hours including day and night duty hours and sleep-ins as required. The Role: Support Workers provide a key-working caring role for a group of People Supported by the Services. This role comprises two main elements. Firstly, the Support Worker is responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being. Secondly, a major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support People Supported by the Services with development on Individual Plan’s and achievement of associated outcomes. In addition, a critical component of this role is to support People Supported by the Services in community participation and integration. CORLANN –WEST REGION POST: LOCUM RELIEF STAFF NURSE / ENHANCED NURSE JOHN PAUL ADULT SERVICES (Ballybane Co. Galway area) Ref: 95857 DESCRIPTION AND VISION OF CORLANN Corlann West Region provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of Corlann is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community, in line with best practice both nationally and internationally. Working in partnership with each person supported by Corlann, we aim to create opportunities for people supported by Corlann to have ordinary life experiences and to be closely connected to family and friends. John Paul Adult Services provides a combination of campus and community based services to adults with varying support needs, based on personal outcome measures. Our services are currently undergoing a transition from a campus-based service to community living, where we aim to create opportunities for the people we support to be valued citizens in their communities and to have everyday life experiences. Staff allocation is dependent on service need. The appointee may initially commence working in one particular area of the John Paul Adult Services and this work location may change due to future service needs. The Role: Staff Nurses fulfil a key worker supportive and advocative role for adults supported by the service in all aspects of their lives, focusing on each individual’s ability and promoting independence and development of skills at all times. The Staff Nurse and Enhanced Staff Nurse will assist people with the development of person-centred plans and critically, will support people to make informed choices and fulfil their potential. They will encourage participation in the community through inclusive and creative thinking, seek opportunities for new experiences and encourage positive risk taking in leading to informed choices. Reporting/Responsible to: Team Leader/Team Manager Qualifications & Experience: Candidates must have - · A current Live Register Certificate from the NMBI (An Bord Altranais). · RNID, RMN or RGN qualification is essential. · A full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence is desirable. A commitment to obtaining a full licence within nine months of commencement is required as it is essential that the appointee can drive the transport assigned to the Service. Due to the nature and location of services, many service areas require applicants to hold a full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence. Applicants who do not hold a full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence may not be eligible for work in certain service areas. Experience of working with people with an intellectual disability/autism/complex needs is desirable, however, induction and training will be provided. · Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post and proficiency in I.T. skills. Skills: Candidates must demonstrate: · Leadership and networking skills - Staff will be expected to network with local community groups and develop positive links for the people who use the service. · Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to support goal setting and following through to the achievement of outcomes · Creativity, initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and good judgement · Commitment to current best practice internationally and co-operating in an interdisciplinary team environment with a person-centred philosophy · Excellent listening skills, patience and a sense of humour Working Hours: All posts are based on a 14-day duty roster. The successful candidate will be required to work days, evenings, weekends, public holidays, sleepovers and night duty to meet service needs. The Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures quality and person centred planning system requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each person supported Annual Leave: 24 days pro rata per annum (pro-rata for part-time). Appropriate service related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years’ service respectively. Remuneration (Department of Health salary scales as at 01/08/2025 apply): Staff Nurse (as of 01/02/2026) – €37,288 x 12 increments - €53,873 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). Long Service Increment €55,477 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *Enhanced Nurse (as of 01/02/2026) – € 44,311 x 7 increments - €55,644 per annum (pro-rata for part-time). Long Service Increment €57,273 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. *As per HSE HR Circular 022/2019 – Nursing and Midwifery - the Enhanced Nurse / Midwife Practice Contract https://www.hse.ie/eng/staff/resources/hr-circulars/hr-circular-022-2019-re-enhanced-nurse-midwife-contract.pdf ; once a staff nurse reaches point 4 on the Staff Nurse salary scale, they become eligible to apply for the role of Enhanced Nurse. Any Staff Nurse who wishes to avail of the Enhanced Nurse role will have to submit an application and also meet the qualifying criteria. Salary quoted is based on a 37.5 hour working week. The successful candidate will be granted incremental credit subject to satisfactory verification of previous relevant nursing service. Additional payments will be paid for weekends, public holidays, and sleep-ins and night duty when worked. A location allowance of €2,743 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) will also be paid when assigned to services where 75% of the persons supported have a diagnosis of severe/profound intellectual disability. Tenure: A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent permanent, temporary or fixed term Staff Nurse / Enhanced Nurse appointments within the John Paul Service location may be offered over the next 6 to 12 months. Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
