Purpose of the Post Job Summary Working with the Head of People & Organisational Development to provide management, guidance and support in all matters relating to Staff Recruitment/Workforce Planning, Staff Retention, Absence Management, and Employee & Industrial Relations and driving forward organisational change within St Johns Hospital. The Human Resource Operations Manager will be required to manage and provide leadership to the wider HR team and advise hospital managers on best practice processes in HR-related issues in line with Hospital Human Resource policies, protocols and procedures. This responsibility will include execution of recruitment and medical manpower processes, employee relations, workforce planning, performance achievement, staff engagement and any other HR projects / initiatives which may be assigned from time to time. The post holder will provide HR expertise, support and advice to staff and managers and will take a lead role in relation to their area of responsibility, encompassing both managerial and administrative responsibilities. Principle Duties and Responsibilities The post holder will support the principle that care of the patient comes first and they will support staff to approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree Tenure The appointment is a permanent and pensionable, whole-time post. Appointment as an employee of the Health Service Executive is governed by the Health Act 2004 and the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004. Senior Grade Medical Scientist Haematology Full Time – Permanent Contract Bon Secours Health System is developing a new 150 bed medical facility in Ballysimon to the east of Limerick City. Building works are nearing completion with a plan to open this new state-of-the-art hospital in 2025. This commitment will see the expansion of surgical specialties currently delivered by Bon Secours Hospital Limerick at Barringtons, plus the addition of cardiology, MAU and other medical services. We are now inviting applications for the position of Senior Grade Medical Scientist Haematology. Post: Full-time, Permanent position. This role is an immediate start. Remuneration: €66,667 - €88,021 per annum. (Commensurate with experience). Our competitive compensation and benefits package is continually reviewed and adjusted in line with market trends. Essential Eligibility Criteria: · Registration as a Medical Scientist with CORU is essential. · Applicants must be eligible for Fellowship membership of The Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine. · A Masters level qualification in a relevant area is an essential requirement due to this being a specialist role. · Proven experience participating in analyser validation and ongoing test performance · Have 3 years or more clinical post qualification experience as a Medical Scientist in Haematology is essential. · Excellent planning & organisational skills · Excellent leadership, interpersonal and people management skills. Role Responsibilities of the post include, and are not limited to: · Assist in the organisation and co-ordination of the Haematology service. · Participate in developing the Haematology service to meet the clinical needs of our patients and ensuring that the service is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the Hospital. · Participate in leading and training a team of skilled staff, creating and promoting healthy working relationships. · Participate in the implementation of operational processes to the standards of ‘best practice’, in order to optimise use of resources. · Ensure that all samples are processed in accordance with standard operating procedures. · Be responsible for the quality of their work and carry out their duties in accordance with Hospital policy. · Ensure that policy relating to the Haematology Laboratory record keeping is followed. · Co-operate in evaluating assays, equipment, consumable items and research projects. · Participate with the Laboratory Manager in facilitating the training of students from relevant college courses. · Actively participate in internal and external quality control and quality assurance. · To perform tasks and duties in a manner that ensures compliance with relevant regulations so that the requirements of International standard ISO 15189 (current version and incorporating AML-BB Minimum Requirements for Blood Bank Compliance with Article 14 (Traceability) and Article 15 (Notification of Serious Adverse Reactions and Events) of EU Directive 2002/98/EC), JCI ACCREDITATION STANDARDS for hospitals and relevant Medical Devices Directives 93/42/EC and 98/79/EC are met. The Resident Anaesthetic Officer will be part of the dynamic anaesthesia department providing surgical services to patients for; • Lower GI surgery and endoscopy • Urology • Vascular arterial and venous (surgery) • Ophthalmology • Gynaecology • Maxillofacial surgery • ENT surgery Key Responsibilities: Under the general direction and control of the Clinical Director and/or Consultant Anaesthetist on call, in the Higher Observational Team (HOT), the Resident Anaesthetic Officer will be responsible for the following, but not limited to: • Conduct morning and evening ward rounds for the 11-14 patients in the higher observation beds with the higher observation team consultant anaesthetists • Daily commitment to the theatre with HOT consultant and care of the HOT patients overnight • Care of higher observation patient's (with reference to consultants and anaesthetists in anaesthetics and surgery and the HOT consultant) • Perioperative care – based on surgical ward, dealing in the main with post op complications • Contribute to the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintaining standards. • Maintain awareness of the National Quality Improvement Programmes and ensure Bon Secours Hospital Limerick is compliant in all stages of the process for patient undergoing procedures at the hospital. • To carry out Cardiac Arrest and other Emergency Procedures as per hospital policy.
