Occupational Therapist Staff Grade
The person appointed to this post will work within a Multi-disciplinary in-patient Hospital Setting. He/she will work on the acute medical and surgical wards, providing assessment and intervention to adults and older persons with a wide variety of medical and neurological conditions. The post holder will have an integral role in discharge planning. This is a busy and demanding service requiring good management skills and the ability to prioritise. The patients referred need to be seen within a short time frame and the discharge process commenced on referral. The role of the therapist in this area is quite varied, requiring a working knowledge of a variety of conditions and utilising a wide range of therapy skills. The Occupational Therapist will need to use their skills in the following assessments – ADL assessment, mobility and transfer assessment, wheelchair and seating assessments, posture/pressure care, need for adaptive equipment. The therapist will then develop treatment programmes that ensure a high quality service delivery and an optimum outcome for the patient. Liaison with family, hospital colleagues and community services is a vital element of the role. There will also be opportunities to be involved in various initiatives and/or committees in the hospital or OT department to develop standards or progress projects. The Occupational Therapy department of Our Lady’s Hospital Navan is part of the wider Meath OT department which encompasses hospital and community services.

Be a key holder, and be responsible for alarm calls, when necessary. 11. “EPOS” System – to ensure that start of day and end of day procedures are carried out in accordance with detailed operating instructions. To respond promptly to all communication and error logs, when necessary, in absence of Manager. 12. Carry out refunds/exchanges, complete Z reads and sales records. 13. Accurately complete time sheets and forward to Finance Department. 14. Liase with all departments at Head Office, to ensure procedures and standards are carried out and adhered to in the appropriate manner. 15. Any other reasonable duties, as requested by Management.
