VTOS Coordinator

Duties of the post: The appointee will report to an Adult Education Officer and will have responsibility for the coordination of the VTOS provision in Tipperary Town. They will also be required to undertake responsibilities related to the broader strategic objectives for service delivery within TETB which include supervising the integration and co-ordination of all FET programmes and activities within the centre. The duties of the post shall include: • ascribe to TETB values • centre facilities management • teaching assigned classes. Hours of instruction to be in accordance with circular 45/99. In addition, it will be necessary to spend whatever time is required in preparation and correction in order that teaching may be carried out effectively • responsibility for the day to day operation, organisation and delivery of the VTOS programmes • preparing timetables • designing course programmes in consultation with the AEO/ Director of FET/ CE • recruiting of students (including clearance with the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP)) and liaison with local Employment Services, Area Partnerships, employers and other community interests as appropriate • liaising with the Department of Education, SOLAS and/or DSP regarding training allowances and related matters • assisting in the recruitment of centre staff to meet the needs of the centre and supporting them in their role • organising regular meetings with staff • providing structured opportunities for staff for continuous professional development • providing vision, clarity and direction in line with the key objectives of TETB for all involved in the implementation and delivery of Further education and Training in the centre • planning, managing and monitoring of the budget and completion of financial projections and reports as per Department of Education/SOLAS requirements • ensuring that the premises, facilities and resources used in the delivery of programmes are appropriate and relevant to the needs of learners, staff and provision and in line with quality assurance (QA) standards • ensuring accurate and complete data on the provision and participants is securely maintained and inputted on the designated Management Information System at all key stages • keeping records and reporting on or making submissions on the programme to key stakeholders as required e.g. TETB, SOLAS, DE as appropriate (in consultation with AEO/Director of FET/CE) • keeping up to date with relevant legislative and policy developments in the sector and keeping staff and other colleagues updated as appropriate. • keeping up to date with TETB quality assurance policies and procedures and communicating to relevant staff • adhering to the TETB quality assurance policies and procedures • enhancing the quality of the service offered by the centre through annual review of the service provided and through ongoing team development • drafting of policies for staff and participants • completing returns, questionnaires and general information for the DES and SOLAS • entering students for assessment and examinations as appropriate • managing the centre resources • responsibility for the adult education centre including books, equipment/materials • developing progression networks to assist the progression of participants to employment and/or education and training. • organising student meetings • arranging extra-curricular activities in co-operation with other staff • carrying out the lawful orders of the TETB and of its Chief Executive • and any other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Salary: €38,192 – €71,503 per year
