Job Summary Duration: Temporary Externally Funded Non Grant-in-Aid contract post, the indicative duration of which is 60 months , subject to contract. A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled; such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months. Basic Function: The appointed research officer will project manage the new UPROTEIN programme recently funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. The programme is spread across 5 Teagasc centres and additionally includes 5 Research Providing Organisations (RPOs). The successful candidate will support the project coordinator and the Management Committee (which consists of representatives from each RPO, in addition to 6 Task Leaders). They will be responsible for information flow between/to RPOs and industry. In addition they will be involved in staff and student recruitment to the project. A key responsibility will be the scheduling of various board and committee meetings, in addition to monitoring project expenditure, ensuring GDPR compliance, the management of project data etc. Background: UPROTEIN (Unlocking Protein Resource Opportunities To Evolve Ireland’s Nutrition) is focused on the sustainable development and exploitation of existing and novel protein resources within the Irish agro-ecological system. The potential of crop (grassland, cereals, legume, oilseed and niche crops) and marine resources will be examined as alternative protein sources, with post-processing biomass used to generate value added food and non-food streams, delivering circularity throughout the production system. UPROTEIN is a new food enterprise that will co-exist with Dairy, Meat and Cereal sectors. It will leverage established nutritional and technological expertise to study alternative protein sources, selected on the basis of environmental, social and economic sustainability within the supply chain. It will generate protein resource opportunities for Ireland, to create a diverse agri-ecosystem with a lower carbon footprint, which in turn will accelerate Ireland's path to becoming a global leader in the responsible supply of nutritious food solutions. The Opportunity – Registered Advanced Nurse Practioners Vhi Health & Wellbeing currently provides urgent care services in our three existing Swiftcare facilities in Balally, Swords and Cork, seeing over 70,000 patients annually. In addition, we provide medical and live-well screening services to 30,000 Vhi customers and a consultant led hospital at home service seeing over 1,000 patients annually, and Occupational Health and Midwife at Home services to Corporate clients. Our new model of care is based on the principles of integrative medicine, where the patient and practitioner are partners in the healing process. As part of this model, along with the concept of treatment, the broader concepts of health promotion and the prevention of illness are paramount and all factors that influence health, wellness, and disease are taken into consideration, including the mind, body and spirit. To support this new model of care and to explore the role of the RANP within this model there is an opportunity for RANP to join our team in a Locum/Bank capacity within our Urgent Care centres in Dublin (Balally and Swords) and Cork. The Role The RANP will play a central role in providing nurse-led care in minor injuries and illness, in an evidence-based environment focused on quality and safety of care delivery. The RANP practices to a higher level of capability across six domains of competence as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (NMBI 2017). The RANP will adopt a professional leadership role within the clinical governance structures influencing both clinical and non-clinical processes that impact upon the experience and/or outcomes for patients within the RANP nursing service.The RANP is professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing and Clinically accountable to the Clinical Lead with responsibility for Urgent Care. Have demonstrated competence in managing a caseload of patients with non-life-threatening injury or illness. Possess an interest in Integrative Medicine. Flexibility to work across a 7 day roster.
