During the apprenticeship, Mercury will give the apprentice additional training in our Apprentice Development Centre. The apprentice will be registered with SOLAS and must complete seven phases with Solas and Mercury during their apprenticeship. The apprenticeship consists of 7 phases: 3 off-the-job and 4 on-the-job. SOLAS and the Department of Education and Science have responsibility for providing the off-the-job training, whilst your on-the-job training will take place on site with Mercury The Apprentice will be required to work 39 hours per week, and overtime when requested. The Apprentice will be transferred across our sites during their apprenticeship. The Apprentice will report to their site foreman/mentor. All applications for apprenticeships must be submitted with the mandatory requirements listed below. Interviews will not be considered without these requirements. Agricultural Mechanic required; We are an importer and distributor for various machines used in The Grounds Maintenance industry, primarily by Councils, Government Bodies, Landscape contractors, Golf Courses, Sports Clubs, Large estates, etc We are a main dealer for Kubota Ground care and Agricultural tractors. We also are a Distributor for Briggs and Stratton Products and Various other ranges. We are also one of the main suppliers of winter maintenance equipment in the country. On successful completion of this Agricultural Mechanics apprenticeship, the apprentice is awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Agricultural Mechanics. This apprenticeship consists of four on-the-job phases with an approved employer and three off-the-job phases in an educational organisation. Apprentices will be invited to attend their off-the-job training phases in accordance with the SOLAS scheduling system. Whilst every effort is made to eliminate unnecessary travel for apprentices it may be necessary for apprentices to attend educational organisations that are not convenient to their locality. This apprenticeship is deemed to be complete when an apprentice has successfully completed all on-the-job and off-the-job phases of their apprenticeship, which is a minimum of four years in duration from the date of registration. The company was originally set up by brothers Tony and Michael Smyth to distribute Kubota ground care equipment. Since incorporation we have added other complementary ranges of ground care equipment such as Simplicity, Ferris, Wright Stand on Mowers, Dolmar/Makita, Charterhouse Turf machinery, Little Wonder Outdoor Power Equipment, Classen Turf Equipment, Mantis, Spyker Spreaders, Tri Max Mowers, Aebi Tractors & Vermeer. We have also set up a winter maintenance equipment division were we represent Schmidt, Econ and SnowEx.
