Graduate SIM Engineer, AFA

Airline Flight Academy (AFA) is a venture for outsourced sim & flying services to European Airlines from a brand-new training facility based in Santry, Dublin, Ireland. AFA are recruiting for a Junior SIM Engineer to join their team of Simulator Engineers at this new Flight Simulator Training Facility. The facility will be used to support Pilot Training using the latest Flight Simulators from CAE and MPS. The training centre is made up of 4x CAE Full Flight Simulators and 3x MPS FTD/FNPT’s. Our simulators run over 20 hours per day training 5,500 pilots each year for recurrent and initial training. Our highly skilled SIM Engineering team carry out preventative maintenance and urgent repair of our SIMs. Quick action to resolve issues that affect the training of aircrew using the simulators and training equipment is a priority. This to ensure minimum disruption to our pilot training schedule. To support this, we are recruiting a Junior SIM Engineer to work with our team of SIM Engineers to maintain the current fleet of flight simulators based in Santry, Dublin. Candidates should have an Engineering Degree or a background in a technical discipline relating to Electronics, Mechanics or Computers. This role will involve both day and night shift. Ryanair will provide extensive formal training to the successful candidates including On-Job-Training. Responsibilities: As part of our Flight Simulator engineering team you will be responsible for: Ensure all preventative and corrective maintenance is completed in a timely manner. Performing schedule “fly outs” checks of the SIMs to ensure they perform to regulatory standards. Rectifying “AOG” defects to ensure maximum SIM availability for training. Resolution of Pilot reported defects to ensure all Simulators meet the highest quality standard. Ensuring all Simulators are maintained in accordance with the relevant maintenance programme. Requirements Either of the following will be considered: Degree in Mechatronic Engineering or similar technical discipline may be considered Completed a recognised Electrical or Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship EASA Part 66 A, B1 or B2 License Holder Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to adhere to tight deadlines. Excellent planning skills with the ability to quickly analyse problems and implement practical solutions. Interest in pursuing a career in SIM Engineering.
