Weekly hours will be 39 hours per week on average, including up to 36 weekends throughout the year. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and passionate about wildlife, with the skills required to communicate this passion and knowledge directly to our visitors. They must demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of modern zoo practices in animal husbandry, diets and environmental enrichment, as well as an understanding and knowledge of research, conservation and health and safety practices. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with animals in a Keeper role in a Zoological Garden and/or Wildlife Park, 2 of which must be after the successful achievement of Sparsholt College’s Animal Management Diploma or equivalent. Elephant husbandry experience is essential, with experience in elephant footcare desirable. Fellowship In Paediatric Oncology

Children's Health Ireland are now looking for a Fellow in Paediatric Oncology to join the team on a 12 month contract from July 2024. The National Children’s Cancer Service (NCCS), based in CHI at Crumlin, provides a single, centralised service within a hub-and-spoke shared care model, for all children and adolescents/young adults diagnosed with cancer under the age of 16 years in Ireland. The service comprises 11 full time equivalent oncology and haemato-oncology consultants. Comprehensive multidisciplinary cancer-related care is delivered within the existing CHI framework of paediatric specialists including pathologists, radiologists, paediatric intensivists, surgeons, palliative care physicians, radiation oncologists, medical paediatric subspecialists, allied healthcare professionals and nurses. The unit is supported by a Health-Research Board (HRB) grant to the total of €2.4 million over 5 years, to help maintain a comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit within the NCCS. Due to the recent consultant expansion over the last 5 years, the NCCS is now in the privileged position in being able to provide, in addition to the clinical service requirement, an appropriate infrastructure for a fellowship programme in Childhood Cancer from July 2024. The duration of the fellowship will be for one year, with the possibility of extending this to two years relative to the training needs of the fellow depending on performance in the first year. Fingal County Council is one of the county’s major local employers and currently employs approximately 1,600 staff. The Council is mandated to deliver a diverse range of functions and services which can be broadly described under the headings of the provision of physical and social infrastructure, housing, economic and tourism development, community development, recreation and amenity services and the management of the planning and environmental regulatory framework. The role of the County Council as provided for in law is to represent, lead and serve the communities of Fingal. Duties The Clerical Officer is a key support position with the Local Authority, providing a comprehensive range of general administrative and clerical supports to a section or Department. Clerical Officers are key frontline people who work as part of a team to deliver quality services to both internal and external customers. The Clerical Officer is expected to carry out their duties in a manner that enhances public trust and confidence. Persons employed will be required to work in any location within the Fingal administrative area.  The nature of the work carried out by Clerical Staff may vary depending on the area of assignment within the Council. HEALTH For the purpose of satisfying the requirement as to health it will be necessary for successful candidates, before they are employed, to undergo a medical examination by a qualified medical practitioner to be nominated by the Local Authority. RETIREMENT AGE The retirement age is 70 years. Recruitment A local authority may decide, by reason of the number of persons seeking admission to a competition, to carry out a shortlisting procedure. The number of persons to be invited, in these circumstances, to interview shall be determined by the local authority from time to time, having regard to the likely number of vacancies to be filled. Selection will be by means of an interview conducted by or on behalf of the local authority. Candidates will be required to pay any expenses incurred by them in attending the interview. Panels may be formed on the basis of such interviews. Candidates whose names are on a panel and who satisfy the local authority that they possess the qualification declared for the post and that they are otherwise suitable for employment may, within the life of the panel, be employed as appropriate vacancies arise. The local authority shall require a person to whom employment is offered to take up such employment within a period of not more than 6 weeks and if he or she fails to take up the employment within such period or such longer period as the local authority in its absolute discretion may determine, the local authority shall not employ the person .
