Reporting To: Grass 10 Campaign Manager Grade/Salary: Agricultural Development Officer Grade 1, with a starting salary of €33,387 per annum. The current salary scale is €33,387 to €64,981. Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc). Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy. Basic Function: The purpose of this position is to create value for Teagasc, and specifically for the Grass10 campaign, by developing and extending grassland management resources and processes, resulting in livestock farmers achieving both their own and Grass10 goals. This will be achieved through: 1. The delivery of appropriate training events, including “train the trainer” type initiatives with Advisors and farming professionals; 2. The creation, publication and extension of resources and tools that support the Grass10 campaign, leading to the adoption of good grassland management practices (including soil fertility improvement, grazing infrastructure and sward renewal) on-farm; and 3. The provision of an effective communications programme to ensure that Teagasc Advisors and other farming professionals use consistent grassland management messages and tools to deliver best advice in grassland management to livestock farmers. Background: Grass10 is a multi-year campaign (2017-2020) to increase grass utilisation on Irish livestock farms (dairy, beef and sheep), with the objective of achieving: (1) 10 tonnes grass DM/ha/year utilised; and (2) 10 grazings/paddock/year. Duties and Responsibilities:  Provide technical leadership for grassland management and use knowledge of both grassland management and farmer behaviour to contribute to the design of adoption strategies that will create farmer demand/engagement with the Grass10 campaign.  Positively encourage Teagasc Advisors and Teachers through demonstrating leadership in grassland management.  Work with other Grass10 team members and Teagasc colleagues to create and develop innovative products/services for use in the Grass10 campaign.  Provide training and support to Teagasc Advisors and other farming professionals for the delivery of Grass10 learning packages and new Grass10 resources.  Lead Grass10 events with farmers or specific training events with Teagasc Advisors and/or other rural professionals.
