Summary of Position The purpose of this post is to provide high-level administrative support to Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board. The successful candidate(s) will support the delivery of quality services, as per the organisation’s remit, working with colleagues across WWETB and the broader community, including Schools and Further Education and Training Centres. WWETB constantly strives to improve the quality and effectiveness of its services and systems, across a number of functions, including in its Schools, Further Education and Training Centres, Finance, Human Resources and Corporate Services. The work of WWETB will be supported through a number of duties and responsibilities, as outlined below. Essential Requirements for Grade III post holders ·        Have the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies to carry out the role. ·        Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalent or have passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher or have appropriate relevant experience which encompasses equivalent skills and expertise. ·        Be capable and competent of fulfilling the role to a high standard. ·        Be at least 17 years of age on or before the date of the advertisement of the recruitment competition. Desirable Criteria Main Duties To support the administrative functions of the WWETB Human Resources Department in our Ardcavan office: • To carry out the duties of a Clerical Officer under the supervision of a designated line manager • To work as part of a team in delivering services • To assist in the implementation of organisational work activities and supporting line managers and colleagues • To be responsible for general administration and administrative efficiency of the assigned area. • To produce information that is accurate, reliable and available for departmental/organisational decision making • To keep such records appropriate to the post as may be required by the wider team and management • To ensure high quality customer service in dealing with the public/learners/staff etc. e.g. responding to queries and providing information effectively and efficiently • To draft relevant correspondence as required e.g. letters, emails, etc. • To carry out general clerical duties e.g. manual and electronic filing, photocopying, answering/making telephone calls, dealing with e-mails etc. • To provide cover for reception as required • To undertake such other work as may be assigned from time to time Interview Selection, from shortlisted candidates, shall be by means of a competition based on an interview conducted by WWETB. All persons who become pensionable employees of a Local Authority will be required in respect of the Local Government (Spouses and Children’s Contributory Pension) Scheme to contribute to the Local Authority at the rate of 1.5% of their net pensionable remuneration (i.e. pensionable remuneration less twice the annual rate of social insurance old age contributory pension payable at the maximum rate to a person with no adult dependent or qualified children) in accordance with the terms of the Scheme. For new entrants under the Single Public Service Pension Scheme effective from 01/01/2013, superannuation contributions are 3.5% of net pensionable remuneration and 3% of pensionable remuneration. 2. Probation: Where a person who is not already a permanent employee of Wexford County Council is appointed, the following provisions shall apply:- (a) there shall be a period after such appointment takes effect during which such person shall hold such employment on probation; (b) such period shall be 6 months, but the Chief Executive may, at his discretion, extend such period; (c) such person shall cease to hold such employment at the end of the period of probation, unless during such period the Chief Executive has certified that the service of such person is satisfactory. 3. Salary: The salary shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. Holders of the post shall pay to the local authority any fees or other monies (other than their inclusive salary) payable to or received by them by virtue of their employment or in respect of services which they are required by or under any enactment to perform. An allowance may also be payable in respect of travel expenses and subsistence. €48,089 - €57,572 (LSI 2) Entry point to this scale will be determined in accordance with Circulars issued by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government. Appointees who are not existing public servants will enter at the minimum point of the scale.
