Instructor, Electrical Apprenticeship - Immediate Vacancies and Rolling Panel  GRETB are seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the post of  Instructor ,  Electrical Apprenticeship , Phase 2 with  immediate vacancies  to be filled in  GRETB Training Centre, Mervue, Galway City.  GRETB are seeking Instructors to deliver professional training for all aspects of the Standards Based Apprenticeship to the prescribed standards and in accordance with the relevant syllabus. Function of Job: To deliver professional training for all aspects of the Standards Based Apprenticeship to the prescribed standards and in accordance with the relevant syllabus. Duties/Responsibilities: ·  Instruct the apprentices in all aspects of the standards based apprenticeship i.e. practical skills, personal skills, relevant maths, science and drawing, related knowledge and hazards, to the prescribed standard and in accordance with the relevant syllabus; · Prepare lesson plans, course notes, presentational material and handouts as appropriate; · Schedule, conduct, correct and mark assessment/tests in accordance with the relevant assessment programmes and carry out associated administrative tasks; · Provide appropriate additional instruction and schedule, conduct, correct and mark repeat assessments in accordance with the prescribed referral procedure; · Maintain prescribed course records; · Supervise apprentices and ensure that correct, quality standards and safety procedures are observed; · Supervise apprentices in respect of their timekeeping, attendance, behaviour and application; · Prepare and issue progress reports to the employer in respect of apprenticeship; · Ensure adequate security of tools, equipment, machines and materials located in the training area; · Ensure that equipment and machines are maintained in accordance with the manufacturers recommended maintenance schedule; · Plan and ensure the timely delivery of all course material and non-capital tools and equipment; · Raise requests for the purchase and supply of course material and non-capital tools and equipment; · Ensure that course materials are used in an economical and cost effective manner; · Use new technology as appropriate to assist in delivering and administering training; · Engage in continuous professional development; · Complete other tasks and assignments as may be prescribed by line managers; · This list is not an exhaustive list and you may be required to take on other task and duties for the proper and effective performance of your role. Essential Requirements: The following are essential requirements for appointment to the post: ·  A National Craft Certificate or equivalent, together with a minimum of three years’ relevant post apprenticeship experience.  Previous training, instructing or teaching experience and a recognised Training Qualification is desirable but not essential; · A high level of knowledge and expertise in the area of Further Education and Training; · Broad Public Sector knowledge relevant to this area of work; · Excellent oral and written communication skills; · Excellent ICT and administration skills; · Willingness to work flexible hours outside of normal office hours; · Full clean driving licence and access to a car. Competencies: All applicants will be assessed across the following areas: · Relevant experience and knowledge of the trade (Electrical) · Teaching/Instructing/Training Experience or Ability · Managing people and resources · Communication skills (which will be assessed through your application and interview) Conditions of Service: Term of Appointment: Two Year Contract Post: This post is a whole-time, pensionable, two year temporary contract. A panel may be formed from which future relevant permanent/temporary posts may be filled. Remuneration: €44,942- €71,086 (including two long service increments). Starting pay will be dependent on an applicant’s post-qualification experience. Incremental credit will be applied based on the number of years post-qualification experience up to a maximum of 5 increments. For example, an applicant taking up a position with 5 years post qualification experience, will start on point 6 of the scale which is €51,252. Salary is not subject to negotiation. Applicants will not enter the salary scale above point 6. Hours of Work: A 35 hour week is in operation, including finishing at 1.30 p.m. on Friday. Hours may be adjusted from time to time under relevant Public Sector Agreements. Annual Leave: The Annual Leave entitlement for this post is 25 days per annum. The purpose of this role is to allow students to upskill and develop throughout the business, which will coincide with their studies - benefitting them academically as well. Apprentices are offered a rotation plan, giving them the chance to rotate throughout the company, opening their options to a number of different careers paths (quality, batching, welding, joinery, civil engineering, purchasing etc) – we will work alongside each individual to help cater their needs to grow. Hours of Work: Hours will be variable between 32 - 48 hours per week as needed. Standard hours of work will be Monday – Friday 06:00am – 15:00pm or 08:00am to 17:00pm however flexibility to work overtime and/or Saturdays as necessary is essential. Involvement in projects of varying scale from conception right through to completion. Assess and understanding of project requirements. Undertake design across a number of disciplines. Agree timescales and specifications with clients and managers. Contribute to the formation of design concepts and approaches using CAD software packages and 3D modelling tools. Produce design calculations and drawings and provide input into multi-disciplinary reports and technical proposals. Any other duties as required by your Supervisor/Manager.
