About the role Engineering Apprentice, Kerry Foods, Carrickmacross Co Monaghan Our Carrickmacross site is home to approx, 500 employees. We manufacture a range of frozen ready meals for major supermarket chains across the UK and Ireland. We now have an opportunity for an Engineering Apprentice to join the team. Key responsibilities About the role (Listed but not limited to): Ensure that equipment productivity (as measured by OEE, MTBF) is maximised through the continuous monitoring and trending of improvements and equipment availability (downtime reduction). Support the implement initiatives across value stream equipment and process in order to maximise reliability, utilising the 8 Step Problem Solving Process as a means to addressing the root cause of equipment problems that reduce the value stream OEE. Always seek to improve the line machinery and processes. To support the standardisation of all machine settings, engineering work, spare parts, procedures & records in line with the Factory Management System and lean manufacturing principles. Support the elimination of adjustment on tooling and replacement parts.  Assist the execution of condition based maintenance schedules, Autonomous Maintenance and Fixed Time Maintenance Routines. To monitor the effectiveness of and periodically update autonomous maintenance schedules carried out by the operator.. To maintain all 5S standards set especially with regard to tools, tool boxes, parts use & storage. To contribute to the continuous improvement of 5S standards within the value stream Planning: To assist and co-ordinate planning requirements within the value stream. Manufacturing Support: To support the Process Team on new products and processes ensuring they are planned, implemented and reviewed so as to be seamlessly integrated into current processes. Ensure that engineering activity in the value stream conforms to GMP standards and promotes a safe and healthy work environment through the continuous improvement of safety standards. To continually strive for 100% “Right First Time” by ensuring that the engineering activity in the VS conforms to quality standards, e.g. clean as you go, foreign body control, HACCP, etc. To ensure that engineering activity in the value stream conforms to ISO14001 standard. To continually strive to reduce the impact the value stream has on the environment through the reduction of resource (energy, water etc) use and the reduction of waste generation. Qualifications and skills About the person: Engineering Qualifications : Actively progress through the relevant phases of the FAS apprenticeship and gain engineering qualification Education: Leaving Certificate or equivalent. Computer literate Excellent written and spoken English Flexible and open to change Innovative problem solver Enthusiastic Organised Logical Good Communicator Ability and willingness to adapt to a team and build team spirit. Ability to follow procedures strictly so that the highest standards of quality and safety are achieved.
