Research Intern, Early Learning Initiative

Purpose of Position: The ELI Research Internship is available to National College of Ireland students to support the ELI Research Team in the research and evaluation activities of ELI Reporting to: ELI Researcher and ELI National Centre Assistant Director Key Relationships:  Candidates should note that they may be required to submit documentary evidence in support of any particulars given by them in their application for the post. What we do with your data People who are directly employed by NCI and are based in Ireland process all the personal data collected for both recruitment and HR purposes. Shortlisting HR draft up the shortlisting documents and provide the initial screening to determine if a person meets the essential criteria of the competition. A shortlisting panel is generally made up of two senior grade staff members from the relevant department for which the role is being recruited. Sharing of your data Where you have been successfully shortlisted for a post, each interview panel member will be furnished with a copy of the relevant information of those who will be attending interview in order that they can review applications in advance of the interview process. All such information will be returned to NCI and shredded following the competition process. Some of the interview panel will be external interviewers, who are not employees of NCI but are engaged for the purpose and are strictly subject to the rules and policies of the College. Access Applicants can request and receive access to their data at any time and can request and receive a copy of this data, in electronic/transferable format. Erasure Applicants can request the data held be erased. In this case, the application for a position is considered withdrawn. Rectification Applicants can have any incorrect information corrected. Overview Tirlán is offering a unique opportunity for an Engineering student to join our production team in Wexford. Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be required to work on days, evening or night shift work depending on operational requirements. This internship is dual in nature; you'll work on engineering, continuous improvement and COVI (cost out value in) projects as also, provide relief cover for shift managers on-site, working on a shift basis. This internship will give exposure to some of the most important areas in a busy production environment. We are seeking applications from highly driven and self-motivated individuals who fulfil the following requirements: Responsibilities • Gain experience in best practice application of safe systems in a busy production environment. • Problem solving and continuous improvement: Work as part of a broader production/process team and utilising team based problem solving employing lean / 6 sigma techniques through our Performance System (GPS), our platform for enterprise excellence • Shift management: Learning the production processes (milk processing for cheese and whey) • Working with a team of experienced operators to produce product to the right first time quality, scheduling plant activities to maximise throughput to meet customer requirements • Act as a point of authority for all team members, and resolve any people related issues that may arise on your shift • Act as decision maker in relation to production impacting decisions within a shift and escalate issues to appropriate support or management personnel where necessary • Lead the daily shift handover meeting, ensure meeting objectives are met and all participants are actively contributing. • Maximise team understanding in relation to performance against KPIs • Drive team performance through feedback, coaching, counselling and training team members and coordinating systems, policies, and procedures to optimise multi-skilling across the team.
