Casual Venue Technician
JOB PURPOSE: The Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre is one of the Council’s flagship cultural venues. The venue has a 393-seat auditorium, 100-seat studio theatre, 2 exhibition spaces and a number of multi-purpose workshop rooms. The centre attracts over 50,000 people to performances and participative workshops each year. The post holder will work within the technical team to ensure the smooth running of the venue. The post holder will assist on all aspects of get-ins, fit-ups and the operation of technical equipment for performances, events and conferences. General Workshop Technician
Location: Dungannon Campus, however the post holder may be required to travel to other SWC Campuses; Enniskillen - Killyhevlin, Dungannon – Main Campus, Omagh – Main Campus, Cookstown - Kilcronnagh or Omagh - Gortin Road sites. Main Duties and Responsibilities To prepare workshop materials for use by lecturers and trainees. To organise tools and materials for trainees in an orderly and tidy manner. To maintain all equipment in a safe and secure environment. To practice good stock control including ordering, receipt, storage and issuing of all tools and materials. To check requisitions against documentation when received and comply with ‘Agresso’ requirements. To assist lecturers during practical classes and maintain a level of supervision and support at all times. To carry out regular routine checks on equipment to ensure any problems are noted and reported to the designated person so appropriate action is taken. Ensure accurate records for equipment checks and maintenance are available at all times, using the correct proformas. To carry out minor repairs to equipment as and when required and when properly trained to do so. To be proactive in Health & Safety issues relating to the section and across the wider College. Assist staff in the development and maintenance of safe working practices and procedures. Adopt a ‘Safety first’ approach to your own work and report any potential risks or hazards immediately. To assist with the distribution of Personal Protective Clothing as and when required and take responsibility for the maintenance of accurate stock records. To co-ordinate lockers, including distribution and return of keys to tutors and students. To participate in staff and personal development as and when required. Ensure all mandatory CPD is kept up to date and within the timelines identified by your line Manager or the Health and Safety Manager. To undertake or support the supervision of students within the teaching areas as necessary. To drive College vehicles between campuses if required. To undertake any other reasonable duties designated by Head of Department, Deputy Head of Department, Curriculum Manager, Campus Manager, Health and Safety Manager or direct Line Manager. NB: Outside of term time the post holder may be asked to perform general maintenance duties or support any wider college functions as required and take part in any staff rotas to provide adequate cover at key times of the academic year or when a need has arisen, directed by the Line Manager, Head of Department or Principal & Chief Executive. Knowledge/Skills and Abilities • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; • Flexibility to work evenings if required; • First Aid qualification or willingness to undertake if appointed to the role; General • Access to a car and able to travel between campuses and other business use as required or the ability to demonstrate mobility. Terms and Conditions Terms and conditions of employment are those as laid down by the Non-Teaching Negotiating Committee for Further Education in Northern Ireland and are drawn from the conditions of service for NJC for local authorities staff. Salary Band 3 points 5-6 £24,790-£25,183 per annum. Commencing on point 5 £24,790 pro rata £13.20 per hour. Contract Type Fixed Term contract – June 2026 with possibility of extension. Hours of Work 16 hours per week. Holiday Entitlement 12 public holidays plus 23 days rising to 29 days after 5 years’ continuous service. Pro rata for part-time and temporary contracts.
Maintenance Engineer
Maintenance engineer (Electrical Bias) Location : Craigavon Hours : 40 hours per week. Tri-weekly rotation of days, evenings & nights. 8 hour shift pattern Sunday PM to Friday PM Days, Evenings, Nights rotated weekly. week 1 is 06:00 to 14:30, week 2 is 14:00 to 22:30 and 3rd week is 2200 to 06:30. The role is dynamic and versatile in its daily tasks. The post holder will also be responsible general maintenance requests on equipment and facilities across the Almac Sciences Business Unit. Including carrying out calibration activities on process equipment. There may be the opportunity to travel from time to time based on business needs. This role would suit someone who is motivated, methodical, and exhibits excellent troubleshooting skills. What we are looking for We are looking for someone with City & Guilds Level 3 in an Electrical related discipline (or equivalent) combined with post apprenticeship experience in a maintenance environment. R&D Smart Manufacturing Engineer, KTP Associate
The College is seeking applications for an R&D Smart Manufacturing Engineer to work with Wafer Ltd on a 2 year contract via a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP). This role will involve developing and embedding a new Smart Manufacturing Process for Wafer Ltd. Using IoT, SCADA, cobotics, digital twins, and automation, the Associate will create a digitally enabled, high-efficiency production system capable of 24/7 operation. The role is central to Wafer Ltds strategic transformation into a low-labour, high-output manufacturer with full product traceability and responsiveness to retail market demands. A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a three-way project between a company (in this case Wafer), an academic institute (such as NWRC) and a graduate (known as an Associate), which enables the transfer of knowledge, technology and skills to which the company currently has no access. A KTP can help graduates to enhance their career prospects by providing them with an opportunity to manage a challenging project, which allows them to use their qualification, and is central to a company’s strategic development and long-term growth. Whilst the Associate leads the KTP project, they are supported by experienced staff from the company and the College. They are also assigned a KTP Adviser, who supports them in maintaining good working relationships within the partnership and in planning their professional development in broad terms.
